No :p

I have nothing better to do and don't feel like sleeping. At the moment I'm listening to Bob Dylan and trying to improve my fantasy baseball team. If you'd like to discuss either topic I'm all ears. :p
Is that like Fantasy Football (soccer) where you choose players and if they do well you get points and if they don't you lose points and such?
Becase we're addicted to staying up late, and that relates to the topic.

The thread won't be closed though, since there's no spam-be-gone messages.
Good point, I'm addicted to staying up late, but I won't discuss this with anyone! I'm seeking help!

Yes, I actually did a fantasy football (soccer) league last year... It was good stuff.

@ shana: Alright, Bob Dylan it is then... :D
Speed and heroin one. Not light stuff.

Another chance or immediate dispatch?

Obviously he's clean now, but he hasn't told us anything about the former problem. This is a band rehearsal place issue. I've posted this thing to several boards to get wide opinion. We use booze and hash heavily too, so we're really open minded about this issue.
I sorted through about 5 other posts, and it got back to arguing between "past is past, let it go" or not type thing. So, I'll leave my opinion out. I'll hand you an example from my past as something to base this off of, ok?

I loaned $900 to two friends of mine, one my best friend. They wanted a loan to start up a little business to keep them busy in the summer and not turn back to drugs. They promised me at least more than my money back, and then went about setting up their little business out of the house of my best friend. 3 months later, they came to me and said "someone stole the money and everything we had, we can't pay you back". Two days later, I showed up to sort out details and press charges, and the two guys were smoking an ounce of pot in the garage. They'd just bought a quarter pound of weed and were smoking it the whole time instead of doing anything else with it. They also pawned my PS2 I left there to use between all three of us for when I showed up, which was fairly often.

So, if you are trusting this person with access to band equipment, you might want to consider that. My two friends were just potheads without any self-control. This person got over an addiction to two highly addictive drugs. Depending on his state of "getting over it", too much stress, or being frustrated could turn that right around. Note, not saying everyone who smokes pot is like that btw. ;)

"Oh, so I can crate you and hide you in the warehouse at the end of Raiders?"

Allright, we decided with the guys that we're gonna talk about this matter with the person at our next rehearsal at tuesday. Just to be sure that he's fully clean from hard drugs and wants to be so at the future. We don't care about anybody's past that much, but we cannot afford to get our gear stolen by a junkie or get kicked out from the place. Booze is the only allowed substance in that place. That is the only reason why we're worried about this person.

Most certainly we're not gonna give him the keys to our practice place at this point. At least 2-4 months is needed to check the guy, that he really doesn't use any hard drugs. Who knows what kind of "friends" he might bring to the place to have a "party" for instance.

We already have problem with hash smoking, yes some of us smoke that stuff and have been doing that in our practice place. Which is not good at all, because it smells and there are security guards around. This needs to discussed also.

Am I reading this wrong or did you lend your best friend money so he could start dealing drugs and were then about to press charges when he didn't pay you back?

The plan was to buy a grill and a big chest type freezer and cook out for the kids in his neighborhood actually. It was a very, very small town, umm....only 1 stoplight in the whole town he lived in. There was 1 place that sold pizza, and no other restaurants, so it would have done good business. However, he spent all the money on pot instead.

I think this was the confusing phrase... I take it you were referring to the money that they weren't 'doing anything else with' and not the pot, right?

Your friends bought a pound of weed for personal consumption then? That's about $3500 worth of grass, color me impressed.

edit: quarter of a pound, my bad. My point still stands though. Nine hundred bucks is a lot of money to spend on weed at once. AFAIK, in most US states, any more than a quarter ounce will net you trafficking charges, as opposed to possession charges. Your friends were lucky they weren't caught :)
Also, when you said they were smoking it, "instead of doing anything else", what did you mean? Were you expecting them to make brownies instead
