I don't really know many recipes, I'm not a chef or anything similar. But if I know what you want, maybe I'll surprise both of us and have something meaningful to say.:speech:
I need a recipe for some kind of soul food dish that contains potatoes!! I did a websearch, but didn't find anything I liked, so I was hoping that you might know one!
For my day off I was planning on cashing in my tax return, paying rent, buying a set of hair clippers, seeing a movie, buying copious amounts of alcohol, and a chocolate bar... but my tax return didn't come today, so I'm basically sitting around doing nothing.
Soul food? Well there is this awesome - fantastic - incredible - stupendous - phenominal - yummy restaurant that I kinda liked that served "home cookin" (Dot's Place burned down and wasn't insured, so we don't know if Mama Dot is going to rebuild or not ). They don't have much with potatoes other than mashed potatoes, and I'm assuming you are looking for something a little more sophisticated than that.
Most of the recipes I've seen with potatoes are just some dish with potatoes cooked in the same dish or served on the side. Nothing where potatoes are an integral part of the recipe or dish. Sorry.
Yeah, I was looking on the same site Juni. I found this in the fish section:
Potato and Crabmeat Casserole
Ingredients:
5 medium Potatoes-sliced thinly
imitation crabmeat-large package
3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 carton heavy whipping cream
salt"]
ohh no receipe for shark fin & spam stew...:mischief:
That's a family secret! Shhhhhhhhh!
In looking around, the most widely advertised potatoe recipes are for stand-alone side dishes that include mashed potatoes, scalloped potatoes, yams (brown sugar, nutmeg, etc) or potato salad. Not anything very worthwhile except as a side dish.
I found a recipe for shark/penguin kabobs with ketchup for dipping!
Thank you for all the help. The crab one sounds good, but I'm cooking for vegetarians! I had already been to the soul food website, and was considering the scalloped potatoes, so that's what it will be.
