Post by nocigar »

i've got a prob getting out of fargrove trough the west gate(way to arindale)
i get out the gate but there is a sort of metal fence that i cant get past, it is lowered down from above and i cant go under it,
race = human
class = fighter,
the other exits of fargrove work just fine

well you can go to the walkthrough or go and do the main mission by the church its in a graveyard i forgot how to get the key but.... once you finish that you talk to the main guy inside the barracks there is a moat around a castle go and see if you can talk to him find the lady upstairs and then you should be able to continue

well as i said the other gates work fine because i already did the main quest and can get out the other ways, the problem however is that once i exit true the west gate i cant run out in the open because there is a metal fence lowered down that i cant go under(as i did the quest's needed to exit, it seems like a bug to me but i'm not a 100% sure)
there is no reference to this problem in the walktrough and i havent seen this problem on any posts on this forum, sow if anyone could help me, I would be gratefull .

This is a problem people had after the game was first released. Have you patched your version of the game?

You did patch it with the 1.4 that's 139 mb didn't you? It's the one that works best with 1.0 and up!

I never heard of there being a solution for this problem. But since you're outside Fargrove, you might be able to use a saved game editor to edit your position past the gate.

Your problem is clear now. You don't have enough DL-game-ability in your setup. The game is causing a bottleneck in the data stream. This is a combination of or one of the following:

processor/ram/graphics. If you have a budget video card, and you have the resolution set too high, or too many options turned too high in game menu.

It would be a great help if everyone knew what your pc is and what hardware it contains.

pc specs

AMD Athlon
1.73 Ghz
512 MB of RAM

video card is the following :

NVIDIA GeFOrce4 MX 440 with AGP8X(i think it has 64MB , not sure )

i had the game running in 1024 *768 while doing the quest,
i've tried running the game in 800*600 and going trough the gate(setting off shadows and putting tree and .. details to 50, but still didn't work)
do i have to replay the quest in lower quality settings or is it just going trough the gate that causes the problem??

thx for your help so far

Ouch!

Eh.... dx 9.oc, xp/svc pak2, and up to date video drivers? If you are using XP, windows grabs about 30% of that 512, so you actually only have about 350 ram for the game which should still be enough. There's an off chance of corrupted game discs and/or update file. I too initially had v1.0, but never had any problems with the gates. If you got the 139mb file from DC or one of its links, that should be ok but you can never be absolutely sure.

ok since i've tried allot and nothing works, i'm gonna use the game editor, but i have a Q about it :

how do you set your character about 10 meters forward, so i just get past te gate and nothing more because i don't feel much like cheating and directly goin to arindale(also i couldnt get back to fargrove seeing as there is no option to place your character there in de game editor)

Ok, while you're at the partly raised gate, Save in a new slot then quit. In the editor, load that new save, then type in these values

for x type in 1232218779

for y type in 3323369428

for z type in 1235215349

for facing type in 1155838421

then choose save character and click the two OK's.

When you have to return to Fargrove, you may not be able to re-enter the west gate, but don't worry about that till it's time to return.
