Well, if they're following the supposed doctrine of the God which is of the Christian faith to the letter, they'll be homophobes.

Well it all depends on interpretation. DM, your post was maybe a little too black-and-white if you get my meaning but I understand where your coming from. It's a common misconception that there are hate-passages in the Bible but interpretation of said passages vary so widely that such a generaliztion is a bit irresponsible.
No harm done, though.

Muh Huh. Random Generalizations are just the subject were talking about.
Your slighting my religion, and my God, along with many other peoples, and I take offense to that.
Most Christians are just normal, average people. I like to think I'm somewhat normal . . .

Well it's not a matter of understanding, because damn near everything in life is subjective: some may think they understand the Bible very well, but that way could be immeasurably different from anothers.
Leviticus 20:13 and Leviticus 18:12 are considered to be the most homophobic passages in the Bible, but interpretation of them still varies widely.

 Sorry, I just got home and saw this, and I was reminded of the time I was living in a college town near here, right off campus. A white kid was all "gansta" and was saying all this crap to a kid from NYC that was going to school there. A black kid. Black kid slapped him and told him "Shut up, you'd be shot for talking that way where I grew up." Hehe. The white kid never showed up around there again.
It disgusts me so much, it makes me want to scream and sob.
Especially when they slag off people who're dead, like Lennon, and Freddie Mercury. They have no, NO respect for the dead, I just can't stand it, I can't live properly with it.
And everyone seems to think I'm a lesbian or something because I'm the only ****ing person in the whole goddamn school who'll stick up for homosexuals! God, what is WRONG with everyone?!
I feel that way about most people unfortunately. You sound like me, unfortunately. I get upset about a lot of things, like those you mentioned. I can't do anything to fix it, not unless I kill every person with those views and find a way to hide the bodies. They do not listen to reason for the far majority, and they will continue being that way.
I just have to say, I have the utmost respect for you to be speaking out on it. I took crap for it in school, but I felt better about myself. I might have went through hell for it, but at least I was confident I stuck with my moral beliefs, and tried to improve other people's lives, no matter what. Now however, I am a jaded bastard, and people suck.

EDIT-Tonys right. Look for my PM.
EDIT2- Hw told me earlier his PM's were full.
The bold "my"s really do add a self-important feel to the matter, don'tcha think?
Yep. That's what they were put there for.
How would you like it if I started railing something you believed in/liked/loved. I could start with the Isle of Man, Maybe. Then start calling you names you didnt want to be called. Im guessing you dont want to see the other side of the coin?
Very rarely do I get mad on here. I can hear the popcorn machines now.

Well, the thing is, Chu took offense because I said that people following the Bible to the letter would be homophobic.
Such people tend to be bible bashers, and exert a holier-than-thou attitude, alienating and discriminating against people who aren't such "good" Christians as they.
Simple fact is that these people wreck religions, since if you ask me, people who are good Christians, or good Jews, or whatever don't make religion a huge issue, they pray when it is considered correct, and live their lives taking in mind the lessons of their religion when appropiate, but not all the time.
These people (talking about the Christians) won't follow the Bible to the letter since, really, it's more of a guide than a way of life.

Couple of things before IM off:
The Bible does say in black and white that homosexuality is wrong. I am happy that many Christians today can get over that.
Chu DM was not attacking you, unless you are one of those biblebashers who is fighting to get intelligent design taught in public schools.
Chu if you leave again so help you God I will bring you back and tan your hide with the CSL.

If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him.

Well... No, not really. Those two passages I mentioned above can be googled. Go try and you'll find what seems to be some very homophobic language that would seem to enhance that statement of yours, but know that you are only reading one translation of it. Translating the text from Hebrew has muddled the meaning to the point where nobody is entirely sure if the location of homosexual activity, the act itself or an almost entirely unrelated ancient ritual is what is really deemed heretical. I'm serious about this, not defending the Bible just because I'm a christian: if anything I was of the same opinion as you for awhile.
