Fighting talk would be equally unspecific. When's something fighting talk and when's something racism? "Tulips must be exterminated" is something else than "Tulips are (IMO) far inferior"? The first one can easily be seen as fighting talk, where the second is an opinion... Or is it? Where do you draw the line?

That line should be within the area that we call 'respect'. It is not only ideal, but also very much possible. If you can't do that and you really think it's necessary to have such disrespectful views, just register at stormfront.org and have a nice respectless conversation with the other incontinental pissers, in all respect.

Free speech doesn't mean you can just say anything that is on your mind.
"Let common sense be your guide" and "be respectful to other members". Those sound like quotes from some bible, but they are key to peace, understanding and tolerance, where any disrespectful outbursts aren't helping anyone, ever.
I do not disagree with your position at all. However the point I am trying to make is that such things must be generalisable, and in the end must be enshrined in law. I would be very happy if that were not necessary; but it is. And respect will not satisfy the legal requirements. You are right to say that "fighting talk" will not do so either. But I think it will be more generalisable. What I am saying is that a jury is asked to determine a question ( assuming that a jury is a given - not a necessary assumption I concede).
Given that we have a jury, for the sake of argument, then I am contending that your characterisation of "respect" is a more difficult concept than "fighting talk" What I mean by fighting talk is that the jury ( or judge if that is the system) would be asked to consider whether the speech /symbol/ art etc, was sufficient to constitute an assault. I personally have no doubt that certain speech etc, can fall into that category and further that this is a recognition of a real fact about real people in the real world which we can judged in a realistic way. Anything short of assault falls into the category of free speech and is met by argument etc. But fighting talk leads to self defence and can be physical. I am not sure if I am explaining this well, but I hope it is enough to get the idea across

Deep thinking is fun. I find it's best to do a deep thinking session after a deep green session.

I'll have to suffice for my vodka and OJ for now. Mmm, I make a mean screwdriver. It's like one of only two drinks I know how to mix. :D

Tony: so are teeth, if you believe Master Shake (ATHF). :p

 Not for girls who take in the bum. Square! :p

@ Chim, I am sooo jealous. If I were to go to get liqour right now, I'd have to stagger (Yes stagger! I've had about a half liter of rum in the past hour!) to the liqour store almost 2 miles away and purchase alcohol. Not fun there.

I miss ATHF. If I could pay Time Warner to just get Comedy Central and Cartoon Network like $5 a month, I would. However, Time Warner is evil, and screw them. I''ll steal it instead. Bastards.

Wow. I'm shocked you actually typed that but it does beg the question... Are they turned on by the deep thinking? Are you thinking while... You know?

I don't have any Coke, though, so I'd have to settle for my apple juice and rum, which I tell ya is a good drink if you mix it right. But I'm in the vodka a lil deep, so it wouldn't be smart to try something else.

Yeah, ATHF is fun. Shame the first bunch of episodes were so lame; it was actually a really funny show without it being a stoner show, but the first half of season one was incredibly incredibly bad.

This is why, um, people like, um, me like, um, go to the store like, um, before we start drinking. Um.

I have the first set of ATHF DVDs, as well as Robot Chicken. Such lovely shows, them. And I don't have to pay for my cable, either, so I can see the newer stuff for free. Still jealous? :D

Hmm...this might interest you...as part of my new job they've given me some training on selling alcohol (yep, Blockbuster sells alcohol too apparently). The law here specificies that alcohol can't be sold to anyone under 18 (whatever the excuse), to anyone drunk, to anyone wo will give the alcohol to someone who is drunk or to a police officer on duty....all of those are illegal, as is permitting drunk & disorderly behaviour on the premesis. :p

Blockbuster doesn't sell acohol in NY. Liqour store owners sell me whatever I want so long as have legal ID her. HAHA! I've been so drunk I coudln't talk and gotten a handle of Captain Morgan's at a liqour store, and 2 30 packs of Milwaukes's Best Ice (Beast as we call it up in these here parts) at a gas station. THAT is customer service. ;)

@ Chim, Yes, yes I am. :(

Ha. They'd give me a fine for selling alcohol to someone drunk here. I think it was £5000.
And they actually test it too...both for DVD's (making sure someone 18+ is getting an 18+ DVD etc) and I think they test it for alcohol too.
They do it in the way that they dress up someone to make them look younger, see the CSR (Customer Service Representative....or till staff) does the correct stuff and give them a criminal record if they don't.
