Sorry.. but I'm new at this. Can you wear clothes over your armor?

Clothes?
No. You can wear only one item on any body location (being head, torso, legs, feet, arms). Equipping a shirt will unequip your body armor.
Some armor types cover more than one location (Arena armor: all locations except head) and equipping another item on one of the locations (eg boots) will unequip the whole armor (and leave you wearing boots and precious little else).

The good thing about using clothes is that you can enchant them as well and use them under certain kind of armour. The bad thing is, despite them being sometimes neat to look at, you cant wear them over armour
However, my characters that favoured unarmored combat (on morrowind and on my first run on Oblivion) would use clothing.
