Blade (Rage) Mage

In Morrowind playing as a Breton found an axe very early on (near the lighthouse) that gave a good edge to the rest of the game.

In Oblivion play as a Blade Mage I'm still fuffing around in Chorrol without finding the good item (but cannot earn enough yet for the good scroll) to complete the first (or rather completely complete if you know what I mean) quest.

Hints please or tell me where I can find 3000+ gold on the ground for the scroll (need it, want it, may - though I'd rather not edit saved files - cheat for it).

Go to the Imperial City, Arena District, and beat every fight there.

You get a LOT of money that way.

If you want money that badly, go to the imperial city, talos plaza district and find Dorian in his house. Get his dispositon below 20 and kill him, take all the items off his body save for the money he has. Then take the money you'll get it but i won't disapeer, do this as much as you want. Have fun button mashing...

be a thief

if you join the thiefs guild you can go to the market district wait until night and rob the magic shops. these will have some very valuable items which can be sold for lots even at 50% of value. also the quests make lots of easy money too
