"When the Vow Breaks"

Hey guys...was wondering if there was a different way to do this quest, other then going into the Fort and plowing through all the bad guys that attack you. I completed the quest, and when I went back to "Ms. Buxom" and returned her mace, she was rather "distressed" that I killed her (now) ex-husband, but gave me the gold anyway. USUALLY when you complete a quest for someone, the disposition is more then "43". Any thoughts out there?? Please, if you can, help me out? Thanks fellow gamers!
