I tried to find a thread and did not notice any update in the new review about stablity for multiplayer games and multiplayer bugs (ie lifts, quest, moongates and maps (many more) only saving for the actual server machine, player.
Are you DLCE players testing multiplayer at all?
Thanks for any info!
DLCE multi improvments?
DLCE multi improvments?
Trust me, most of the names I have been called you can't translate in any language...they're not even real words as much as a succession of violent images.
I have been playing multiplayer CE with a friend who lives 2 miles away. (We use internet->direct IP).
I host the game, so I never see any lag of course. But here is what I remember:
1) Rarely he will get out of sync (this has happened maybe twice that I can remember)...he will be getting hit/attacked by things he cant even see. Its as if his character is not where he think it is.
2) Going up elevators is a pain, sometimes he will fall through the floor. The best workaround is to jump while its going up.
3) Occasionally he will complain about some lag...but not really sure how it affects his game play.
I think the biggest cause of our lag is our wives browsing the web while we are playing. We usually tell them to stop browsing
As far as quests go...everything is going ok, but there are some quests that cannot be done by both people. I've come to realize that you have one person talk/turn-in to the NPC and then the other person can talk to that person and get the reward as well (usually).
One nice little feature is, for some quests (like Marduke) both players dont have to play 10000 gold to get it. Just one pays...and the other one can just talk to the NPC.
Here are the quests I remember that cannot be done by both players (at least we werent able to):
1) Bail the guy out of jail in Fargrove
2) Get the totem tree thing in the Forbidden Lands
3) House of the Tiger quest (For returning the argalia, only one person can get rewarded by Misume, Elvithra and the House of the Tiger guy)
(Ill update this as I learn more).
Aside from the long load times and crappy UI, we are having a blast. We just finished the Temple in the Vale of Ruins and we are heading towards the Shadow Ruins next. Its alot of fun for two players....makes the encounters more manageable...especially when you get overwhelmed.
One motto we live by: save often.
