That is why they make such a viciously beautiful mix. Anywho, based on my present condition I present to you the following lesson of the day, as Magrus is on an unknown period of hiatus:

Go forth with said lesson, and watch as your life grows to be far greater than it is now. MCOPCDAWD guaranteed.
I tend to go off on booze every once in a while. Last night, I was doing some preface drinking before I and some friends went bar-hopping in the city. By the time I came down from my buzz, I had driven to Lucy's place. Of course, they were also indulging in preface drinking, and I joined in despite being the DD. Not so good. I wound up drinking very little there, although during the drive to the city, I did drink of the communal to-go cup. :D Had one drink at the one bar we went to, and it was vile. And it was so hot the ice all melted in five minutes, and it took me that long just to take a few sips. :( (We went to one bar instead of bar-hopping as we'd planned due to the fact that one of our troupe had a fake I.D., which I didn't know about, I swear :rolleyes: )

In the future, I hope you shall Refer heh, I had to say that to the following;

A good education is an essential part to success. However, one must have a certain respect and admiration for those who have made their marks without the benefit of the traditional university education. The culture that we call street has given birth to some of the most successful and insightful people in the world. Many of us would not be here today were it not for the skills and knowledge we aquired and the dues we paid on the streets. There is no replacement for the street sense and instinct. There is no school tougher than the school of hard knocks.

There is certainly nothing more true. Naturally, a good education can further the goals of some, but it is useless if you don't know that stepping in front of a moving vehicle can hurt quite a bit. Common sense isn't learned any other way. Once you've been punched in the face once or twice, even the dumbest of people will realize that moving ones head may prevent the resulting pain. Good one, Athena.

PS. Wow, I've been gone a long time, and I'm happy to see this thread is still going strong. Long live the MCOPCDAWD!

What if these people had the opportunity to go to school and college? Don't you think they would be able to exploit their talents even more with some good education?

I spent the afternoon persuading a college to give a young person I work with a chance. And he has an interview on Friday. :cool:

I don't dismiss the importance of what you say, Athena. But although some lucky/exceptional individuals do very, very well without qualifications, most don't. And not everyone gets up after a series of hard knocks.

I also believe that formal education is of value in itself regardless of what the outcome is in the world of work and money. Not a fashionable view, I grant, but one I hold quite strongly

Addendum: my friend with whom I shared that lovely night of Krispy Kremes with, I met her today at Krispy Kremes. She said to me how she'd had a Sour Kreme Doughnut before I got there, and it wasn't as good as she remembered it. It definitely is a food for the munchies. :D

Definitely a food for the munchies is right. When I was younger they only had Krispy Kremes at their own stores and bakeries, but now you can find boxes of them sold at local grocery stores and Target of all places. The trouble is you can't eat just one if you buy a box of them. Either you eat them all and make yourself sick with the deliciousness, or you do as best you can to do so while fending off relatives, significant others, and pets from getting to your box. I mean, C'MON! It's your box! They can get there own, or risk losing life and limb.

PS. I get the munchies when I drink, and I drink a lot of beer. Krispy Kremes and most varieties of beer do not go well together. Just a warning.

lol ew, I coulda told you that. But frankly, I don't like beer at all, and I just cannot eat when I'm drinking; somehow, it's never a good combo with me. Sadly, I wish I had eaten something last night, as I was pissed off my rocker with some friends last night. I was pretty entertaining, though. :o

Yeah, they've been selling Krispy Kremes here for years in grocery stores, and Target, Walmart, and Kmart as well as other like stores. But now, Krispy Kreme has begun having stores of their own around these parts (maybe they've had them before, and I just haven't noticed, but I didn't see my first Krispy Kreme store until last year). Thank Buddha you can order just one or two at a time, so you don't feel sick like you said. Sadly, it's a real bargain if you buy a dozen; I spent $2.25 on three doughnuts a couple weeks back (when I first tried that Sour Kreme one), and when I got a dozen a week later, it was only $5. Stupid me got the dozen anyway, and had doughnuts for three days (as well as leftover pizza). Blech.
