Character Stuck!!! Another Bug?

Post by Lavathos »

Well I am inside the daegoth(spelling?) keep/fortress in the vale of ruins....
I just got finished opening a treasure chest and killing a ton of mobs including a flying demon looking thing and got a skull key from him and a nice dragon looking helmet from teh treasure chest....i go to leave and guess what...the gates are locked...not the one right by the treasure chest but i mean the two up top as you come in. there is no stinking lever to exit the damned dungeon!!! I must have clicked the lever twice walking in and it shut behind me or something. I can see the lever in front of me just on the other side ....argh!!! Any suggestions are welcome other than "restart".

The Draedoth Temple is a pretty complicated area, second only to the Shadow Ruin. Did you jump around some colapsing walkways, collecting 4 glowing stones, and in the area beyond that, get another glowing gem and the Shield of Retribution which is one of the relics you need?

character stuck

k,maybe i didnt explain it well enough...ive not made it in far enough to any collapsing walkways...no gems...nada. Ive only made it to the first section....room with a big treasure chest in the center that when opened, a door in the back of the room opened with alot of creatures in it, one of which was a red flying demon looking creature who dropped a skeleton key...that key i used to get out of that specific room because the gate locked behind me...however when i head back toward the entrance and up the lift then past a small broken bridge i come to two gates...neither of them has a locking mechanism. I have walked the entire short route many many times and have found nothing that can get me out. I cannot exit the way i came in because that gate's lever is on the other side.

Hexing your location

Yes, I see exactly what has happened. On your way back, the first of the two gates is opened once you get on the other side. But the second gate, that got you into this area, you accidentally locked again as you passed through. I did this exact same thing the first time I was ever in the Draedoth Temple. If you have a hex editor, here is the only thing you can do, other than a previous save. And apparently you didn't save after getting to the Vale of ruin. Following is the ending of a save file and you'll notice there are three distinct groups of data up from the ending of the save. Your save will be quite similar. At the locked gate with the torch just on the other side, face the gate in its middle, get right up against it and SAVE, then copy this save to a safe location.

Now with a hex editor, open the game directory save and change the third group of data from the bottom to exactly the small group data shown immediately below, begining with 188D and ending with 1446. Make sure you change all fourty digits to match the ones shown immediately below. Then save the hex work and exit the editor. Now start game and load up the edited save and you'll be on the other side.

are they complicated to work and how might i obtain one?
Thanks for the advice. That sounds like the only option I have...

Do a google search for Hex Workshop 4.2 and download it. As old as it is, it may be free by now. Not too hard to learn. Concearning names, you basically do a text search for the name, search again and again till you reach the last occurrence of the character name, then cancel. The cursor will remain on the first letter of the final name. Now change the search to hex and type in the item code or other hex value you want and it usually finds it on the first search, because everything about a character is after the last occurrence of the character name.
