Shadow Realm: floating crystal
I cannot seem to snag the floating demon crystal in the chamber with the wind machine in the center of the room. I've tried everything; jumped from every angle, the door, the other raised areas, but no luck. (Getting a bit seasick and discouraged.) Is there anyway to edit my inventory so I can bypass this feat of impossible madness, or a trick that will work for me? Please help! Much thanks, Elaine
In a DL save file, there's anywhere from three to five occurrences of the character name. Everything that can be changed about the character is after the last occurrence of the name.
Always make a copy of any save being altered, and place it in a safe place, the desktop, for instance.
You can hex edit a save and replace a general inventory item with an extra Shadow Crystal. If you still have some of the following, which are no longer needed, any one can be replaced with the Shadow Crystal.
Sewer Key 9A00
Sewer Bridge Key 9D00
Theater Key 9B00
In the hex editor, open your save and do a text search for your character name. Keep searching till the last occurrence, then place your cursor in the side with all the 0000's.
Now change your search to Hex and type in one of the four digit key codes. It is usually found with the first search.
When the key code is found, replace it with D400, which is the hex code for Shadow Crystal.
Now save the altered hex work and close the editor. Start your game and load the save. You should now have the Shadow Crystal in the Keys section of inventory. Now go down the other hallway and get the other Shadow Crystal.
Thanks so much for all your help. I do not have a Hex editor and need to find one. Which one is the easiest to use for someone not formilar with using them? A link to a download would be most appreciated. Thanks again. Elaine
I use Hex Workshop 4.2. Just do a Google search for it. It is so old that it may now be free. If not, you still have probably 30 days trial.

Thanks, I'll do as you suggest.
I downloaded a great beta DL editor, but it only works for 1.4 and 1.5. vrs. It spat back my saved game and informed me that my version could not be used with it. Too bad, for it looked really easy to use. I'll go to Google and search for Hex workshop 4.2 and see it I can understand how to use it. Thanks again for all your help. (Just hang loose...I may need further assistance). Any other ideas will be appreciated too. Thanks. Elaine

There's an update available for all versions from 1.0 to 1.3 and it will update your game to 1.4. Just go to the following link, scroll down the page to the 1.0-1.4 full, choose one of the links and download it. It's about 139 mb and takes quite awhile but worth it. After download, and if you installed to the default directory "C:\Program Files\Dreamcatcher\Dungeon Lords\dlords.exe", then run the update from any location on your computer.
