Annoying Graphics Problem
Annoying Graphics Problem
First of all, i'd like to say Hi to everyone, im the new guy.
Now here's my question, ive recently installed Fallout 2, after hearing alot about it, and i can play it just fine, havent encountered any bugs.. yet.
But the thing that keeps bugging me is the graphics, they SUCK in comparison to the screenshots i find on multiple websites, for example, when i get to the crash site the shadow of plane is nothing more than a bunch of black pixels, same goes for... everything! Everything is ''pixelly''... textures, characters text EVERYTHING :speech:
Is there a solution for this? ive searched my ass off on google, NMA and more but i just cant find out what is causing this?
pc specs:
Pentium 3,4 Ghz
2048 MB RAM memory
Ati Radeon x700 PRO - 256MB vid memory with the latest catalyst driver
Service pack 1
Fallout 2 v1.2
PS: I will send the person that helps me fix this problem a pink sugar coated baby duck.

First of all, welcome to the forum
About the graphics... Fallout 2 is quite an old game (released in 1998.) with, for today's standards, very bad graphics. Its resolution is fixed at 640x480 with 256 colours, so if you're playing it on a large display, it'll most probably look "pixelly". I'm not saying that everything's fine with your graphics, but a screenshot would be very helpful in situations like this

And yeah i realise that Fallout 2 is old but ive been comparing my graphics with other Fallout 2 screenies and mine look alot worse.
I tried to make a screenshot but im not sure if the Prnt scrn button method worked, i also tried to make a screenshot of my desktop, but that went wrong aswell, ill try again but afraid i wont get far.
I also tried the 256 color - 640x480 modes but that didnt work either
Isnt there somesort of patch or fix for this?
Thanks in advance.

Dakira if you run game, monitor automatically change resolution to 640x480 so screenshots will be in this res. Quality of grafics only depends on largeness of Your monitor. If You use 17" or highest then image will be worse.
You must run game on 15" monitor or search for some program to run game in 800x600, but I don't know if it exists
Pleas put screenshot in post for compare.

I also play with 17" screen, and the difference is quite big when you compare to the screen of my laptop. So, It's quite sure your problem is too big screen for the game...

I USED TO play on a 13'', but I've switched to a 17'', so I'm out
BTW, there is no such tool that can increase the resolution, because Fallout's engine does not allow that. It's fixed at 640x480@8bit. IMO it's actually better to play on larger displays because it makes the targeting easier...

That's true, but it also make the game look horrible... especially during dawn and dusk...
