Whoever it was on the TQV messageboard that compared music downloading to stealing written material is the biggest moron of the last 500 years.
I'd be pissed off if this happened to me, so yeah i think you have a right to be concerned. I hope all of this resolves in your favor.

I know other boards, and sites, that I've been a member of and currently are, have had some minor problems in the past when members submit their own work to our site, and a few days later a copy comes up which is exactly the same elsewhere, typically IGN.
Fortunately, they agreed to take down the article immediately, thanks to the author of the FAQ intervening. When it comes to a site as large as IGN, it can be expected that some bad apple member might come up with some "work" which is not really their's. Most of the work on a lot of sites now is user submitted (I do believe that's how it works for the vaults), and must be looked over before being accepted. When you get hundreds of articles a day, though, things tend to slip through the lines when it comes to checking for copyrighted and plagirized materials.
Good luck with this, Buck. I've never had dealings with editors from IGN myself, but most people who have had dealings with them, have had fairly good experiences, as Fable mentioned above.

Erm, ok....a High School student I can forgive, but a very reputable site plagiarizing? That's really...really pathetic.
Listen up maggots, Mr. Popo's 'bout to teach you the pecking order.
It goes you, the dirt, the worms inside of the dirt, Popo's stool, Kami, then Popo.

It's probably a good time for me to jump in to the conversation with a post similar to what I posted at Titan Quest Vault, seeing that the final result wasn't passed on:
The content in question was posted without those of us at the "higher levels" of IGN's Community Sites group knowing it may have been infringing. I think "Buck" would concur that, it was a matter of a couple of hours from the time he sent a message through one of our feedback forms to when the material in question was removed from TQ Vault and I dropped him an e-mail to inform him.
I also felt it was important to keep this in public view to show that, despite it being an embarrassing situation, we're willing to face it and show our responsibility to the community by taking immediate action to fix it.

Thanks for dropping by, Andy. While it’s unfortunate that this whole episode had to take place, I have no complaints about how the situation was handled. IGN management contacted me immediately after I brought it to their attention and the content was taken down within a matter of hours. Problem resolved.
