Brainwipe

Post by Shizz »

Well, this might be a stupid question - but what use does level 2 dominate ie brainwipe actually have? It doesn't seem to prevent enemies from perceiving me, they continue their weird not-sure-look-arounds that appear when they almost spot me, and they certainly aren't distracted by it when firing at me.
So what is the supposed use?

The question remains, though - Does insight remove sanity, or will insight be given to the mad?"

Brainwipe makes them forget you are there for 5 secs. Its useful if they do not know you are there as you can use it then run past them and hide. I use it a lot when sneaking around.

Well, yes, that's what the description says... but it doesn't seem to actually do anything - when "casted" upon someone who hasn't spotted me, it doesn't prevent them form perceiving me; it fails as well to distract enemies that are merely suspecting my presence. So, um... is this a bug, or am I just being thick?

No, I think you're just missing the point. It makes them forget you are there. If they still don't know you're there, there is nothing to forget. They have to have detected your presence for the spell to have effect. If you have it in the walkthrough, you go around a corner into two gangrel staring straight at you, cast the spell, and then walk out the door with them snarling and looking around like they forgot something...to be specific - you.
It's pretty handy for escaping close scrapes that you aren't crazy about dealing with, like ducking cops and such.

IIR, it is AE (area of effect) so you need to be within a certina distance as well.
Trust me, most of the names I have been called you can't translate in any language...they're not even real words as much as a succession of violent images.
