I have an empty Grand Soul Gem and also the Umba sword but when I killed a Necromancer it said something about not having an available (or large enough?) Soul Gem to capture the soul. I double-checked and I have empty Grand Soul Gems. Are they not enough? Or is the Umba not enough? I am at level 47 with 100 in Conjuration, Mysticism, Alteration in case this might matter. Thanks for any help.
To capture a human soul u need a Black Soul Gem. To do this put a empty grand soul gem in a necromancer alter, and when the "lights from the heavens" shine on the alter, cast a Soul Capture spell at the alter. Congrats you have a black soul gem.
