Grand Soul Gem Level

how do I get the grand soul gem at the highest level (I'm guessing grand?) whenever I trap a soul it is petty or common. Also, is there anyway to empty a soul gem I don't know where I can find anymore grand soul gems

The soul goes automatically inside the smallest gem that will hold it. So the only way you'll end up using a grand soul gem is if you cast the soultrap spell on an extremely powerful creature, then kill it while having the appropriate soul gem in your inventory.

lvl up a bit. The higher your lvl the higher monters you'll encounter, and that make you find more soulgems.

find the azura shrine, do the quest.

savage trolls, savage ogres, xivilai, minatour lords, nether lichs, dread zombies are some grand souls. While clanfers, or minators, trolls are common souls.

And no can't empty it, only one use...
