The Arena... froze my game?

I was playing the Lost Chapters, and got to the arena. Playing the Xbox version if that matters.

I thought "YES! I can get millions of experience through this!"
I did the arena five times, hero saving then loading by the time I fight Whisper.
After the fifth time I was going to finish, but remembered about the Hobbe killing contest I already took boasts about. So, naturally, I hero saved, and tried to load so I could do the Hobbe killing contest then the arena one last time. (I was planning on killing whisper and thought the quest would be in void due to it)

So, when I tried loading, the Autosave was damaged. I can't load my game.
Is starting a new game the only way to resolving this?

You Hero Save too much, you're game gets corrupted. Sorry, unless you have a previous save, you're out of luck.

It's a good thing I wasn't at the final level when I figured this out...
