Enternally over-encumbered?

Post by Lizarellie »

Help pleeeeeeeeaaaaaasssee!

So I was fighting some greater bonewalkers or whatever they're called at Vivec. I killed them all, thank god, but then I realized they had cast some curses (at least I think?) on me and my strength was down to 0. I took all the potions I had and cast some healing spells on myself, but I am still over-encumbered.

I transported myself to the nearest temple, but I couldn't even walk up to open the door. I dropped all my stuff and I was still 5 pounds, and thus, couldn't move. I had to fight a guard so he would push me closer to the door so I could open it.

Now I'm inside, and some guy is in my face who sells weapons. I can see the shrine I need to get to, but I can't move. I am going insane.

Is this going to wear off or am I going to have to go back to an earlier save?

Any help would be appreciated.

What is your current strength, and does it show up in red?

If you've dropped everything and all else fails, open the console with ~ (assuming you're on a PC), and type:

player-> SetStrength X

...where X equals the number you remember your strength being. Then hit return, close your console, and flex those muscles.

I can't remember what my original strength is, but yeah, I've got a big fat red 0 right now for strength.

And unfortunately, I'm playing on xbox seeing as one of the little children in my house lost the pc version. :(

Argh. Drop everything. If that doesn't work, your only bet is to return to a previous saved game.

And next time, be sure you keep several fortify and restore strength potions with you.

Well, I did think to drop everything, but I still weighed 5 pounds, which is hideously underweight if you ask me. :p

And yeah, I had to go back to a saved game and I bought all the potions and scrolls I could get my grubby little hands on. Thanks for your help!

I fully recommend finding a person who sells strength restoration spells and crafting a few cheap spells. (I think the Imperial Shrine at Sadrith Mora does)

It's quite possible to craft a spell that restores all attritubes by about 20 for something like 15 Magicka points, it's also more than possible to craft an item with the same thing.

Eitherway they're invaluable to have, because more often than not potions do eventually run out.

this is very sound advice, imho this is the best solution, it's easier to keep track of one item compared to the potions, also i have this nightmare where my pc is stuck someplace with a monster close enough to spoil rest but far enough away so it's not going to walk to me, and my pc does not have the magica points to cast the restore spell.

always keep an arsenal of restore attribute spells on you, it saves you a lot of aggrivation and having to post a thread on gambanshee

Or, my preferred method is just to create an enchanted item that restores 10 or so points to every attribute at the same time. It does not cost much to make, if you use a ring it does not weigh very much either, and does not need a very powerful captured soul in order to create it.

This problem happens to me all the time (no big problem, just use restoration). But when I wears my permanent effect fortify strenght enchantments, restoration (even at an altar or shrine) doesn't work so I'm forced to take them of, do the restoration and then equip/unequip a hundred times in order to get good streght again (uses magnitudes 1-43 and 1-52) is this a bug or something?

If you've got something that boosts (fortifies) your attributes, get cursed, and drop to "normal"--which would normally be in the red, except that you've got the boost going--you won't be able to use potions or a spell to remove the curse. First, you'll have to remove the boost. Been a problem noted as far back as the game's first released. Never fixed.
