starting again (sort of!!) spoiler
A man walked into bar what did he say?
OUCH!!
OUCH!!
No easy way besides the saving at the end the first time which is a REALLY good Idea and wish I thought of it because I'm on my 4th character now. I myself haven't finished the game yet with any of them neither. My first is an assassin who can kill about anything, top in about every guild but the mages, but I get MURDERED in the oblivion gates. Changed to another guy who was a battle mage with the astronoch birth sign. Hate that one. Another that is just a Mage, can't fight anything after level 25 that dosn't use majic. But now I've got a guy that can fight and use majic. You just need to know what you want to use and you won't know untill you play through a lot of it once. That was my whole problem I know.

As has already been said, there is no way but saving game just before you exit the original sewer. So do it again. And this time, make sure you grab EVERYTHING sellable. Yes, I know it will be too heavy for you to carry it all out. But it CAN be done. Take what you can carry, put it in a heap or a handy chest/crate, go back to pick up what you left behind, and take it on to the next handy crate, etc, etc.
Don't think you have to run after the Emperor and the Blades. You don't. They wait for you. So you have plenty of time to search, loot, and do the boring carrying bit. Yes, it IS boring. It IS tedious. BUT, you only need to do it the once. Every future character you build from the save at the end of the sewer will have maximum items to sell. It's worth the effort, because you will be VERY short of gold initially, as you will have already discovered!

That seems like a lot of work for very little gold. Sure, having 0g or 50g is a big difference but as you allready get several hundred from selling the valuable stuff it doesn't matter that much.
And do note that by valuable I mean an items that max out the value of all things you carry which generally means taking only stuff that has a higher value:weight ratio.
For example: Heavy armor: 55g, 30 weight = BAD
Scroll: 10g, 0.1 weight = GOOD
*spoiler warning*
- Once you're out of the sewers, you can join the thief's guild in 3 minutes.
- Then stash your gear in your preferred crate enabling you to carry more loot (it will only be there for a short while anyways). Another minute.
- Wait til midnight then pick the locks to The Guilded Carafe and Mystic Emporium (don't miss the Feather Boots and Fort Fatigue Pants) - Market District in Imp. City and loot the valuables. Less than 5 minutes.
- Fast travel to Bruma and sell it to the local fence for at least another 900g. 2 minutes.
- Go back and pick up your gear. 1 minute
Which means you make over 900g in just above 10 minutes.
