Advice for fighter/cleric

Post by Ceso »

I really like the Priest spells, but I want to mix in a good fighting ability so I can solo with the character. I'd like to be able to reach advanced specialization with weapons....

What would be the best method to make a strong fighter that is able to make use of all levels of priest spells?

I tried multiclass, and dual class, but my undersanding of the game is not so great as to predict how the THACO and prof. points will be distributed down the line.

So does anyone know the best set up for a powerful fighter with a full compliment of priest spells?

Thanks

If it was me i would dualclass at 9 so as to activate the cleric quicker and you could hit level 19 cleric which would give you 2 level 7 spells same as level 21.Points spent on Flail and Sword and shield style will give you, IMHO the best combo.

Dual out immediatly when the game starts. You'll start with six profec.pts. and get ~8 more as a cleric.

This will also maximize thaco and spells hit pts. respectivly.

dual to cleric at lvl 9, but only put skill sin flail, mace or hammer, and either 2 hand style or sword+shield.

i recommand put 2 skills to flail, 2 to two hand style, 1 for mace/hammer and one in sling. and then when you advance your character, get you skills up to 3 slots of 2 hand style, 2 mace, 2 flails and 2 hammers 2 sling. dual wielding the crom faeyr and flail of ages/mace of disruption+2 is the best style you should use. (since flail of ages can be used quite ealry, put 2 slots in flails, and can advance hammer later on.

i actually did dual at lvl 7 and (but i was using ranger) i got my anger skills back almost immediately after the first dungeon.

don't put and skils in blade weapon since cleric can't use blade weapons. and remember the stats!!
at least 17 for wisdom(prefer 18)
int, doesn't matter(mine is 6!! Image)
strength-- might be important early in the game, but later on, when you got crom faeyr, it doesn't matter.
dex. 18(give you as low AC in the start
cha--16or 15.(better if you want)
con.--prefer 18(but higher than 16 is acceptable)

Mizuno,
I I think you mean this is good for our Ranger/clerics????
This is a fighter/cleric. He specifically said he wanted advanced specialization which I assume means Grand Mastery.

Hey Ceso,

You want some real fun do like Mizuno said.

Cool, thanks for the replies!

So if I dual class from warrior to Cleric as soon as the game starts, I can reach grand mastery in weapons... get a kick ass THACO, and also have 2 level 7 spell slots?

One last question... After I dual to Cleric, can I continue to place prof. points past normal specialization?

I would really like to end up using the crom/FoA combo... but would I have enough prof. points to reach grand mastery(or close) in each.. plus dual wielding?

Thanks again,
Ceso

it really doesn't matter the pro. point, since you got the crom. remeber what it does? 25 strength, thaco+5, etc.

if you use figter/cleric instead like me using ranger/cleric, you should be able to grand master at least the mace and hammer(can't remeber the flail , cleric can grand master the hammer and mace, so is fighter )but i've told you doesn't matter as lon as you got the crom. but keep the mace of disruption+2 you'll need it. and of course sling for range weapon

What you want to do is choosing a berzerker to start with, and dualclass at level 9. At level 9 you get another weapon point, and half extra attack as well if im not wrong.

Of course warhammer is the best, then either dualwield and another weapon, or just sword and shield style. Berzerkers cant specialise in missile weapons, but a sling isnt very good compared to other missile weapons anyway.

Forgot something. Kensayrui stated you could get level 19 cleric, but you can get 20.. So instead of a cleric level 21 you get Berzerker level 9(with all the extra weapon slots and better THAC0) and cleric level 20, loses one rank of cleric only
