Darned Crypt Tower!

Post by Ruvaeda Du'Vain »

I'm on the third level of the Crypt Tower in Shadows of Undrentide, the level where the walls and doors keep appearing and disappearing and reappearing.

I'm sure the effect would be a lot more fun if it weren't slowing down the game to an unplayable crawl. Unfortunately OS X doesn't allow for users to manually allocate more memory to an application, and I've already toned down the graphics as much as possible (640x480, disabling all the cool special effects, etc).

Any suggestions, short of buying more memory?

Thanks folks!

Whenever the game slows down to a ridiculous speed so its unplayable, do a quicksave then reload and it usually speeds things up again (a bit) for a while so you can at least get through the level. Its the most frustrating part of the game though.

Oh yeah, that happened to me with all those little fairies and their entangling roots. It's not really a memory issue. It's more of a graphics issue because the video card is having to process 100's of little 3D animations at once. You need a monster computer to have no lag in these parts of the game.

I know this is too late for the previous posters, but sometimes you can disable the sound from the audio control panel and gain some speed that way. I spent one whole evening cleaning out every container on that floor so it can be done if you are patient.

I had same problem...

I had the same problem. I tried disabling all sound and lowering my graphics, but nothing seemed to help. I did find that if I kept as close to the outside borders of the room as possible, I usually moved a bit faster. Also, make it to one room, save and reload. Kill and loot or whatever you want in that room, while you at are normal spped, then move on to the next and save and reload again. I know its a pain in the ass, but if your the type of player that refuses to leave any area unexplored then you gotta do what you gotta do.
