Thread List History Not Changing

Post by Hill-Shatar »

A couple of minutes ago I attempted to take the option at the bottom of each forum, "Display threads from" and tried to increase it from my set default of 75 days, but each time only shows me the same threads over again.

I'm currently on FireFox, and have tested this in the GameBanshee Announcements and this forum -- both displaying the same amount of threads both time (1 and 30, respectively).

That functionality is definately working for me in both IE 6, Opera 8.5 and FireFox 1.5.0.4.
In the announcement forum if I view at my default (100) I have 1 announcement, but if I view from "last year" I get 3.
In this forum I get 38 when viewing my default (100), and 32 if going down to 75. (Or 79 if last year).

It deffinately works.

Same as Xandax. No problem on my side. I set the 'Display thread option' all the way to the beginning and all the threads were correctly displayed.

Well, my default setting seems to have been "from the beginning", and when changing it to 75 days and 45 days it worked, so I guess I'm not experiencing this problem

I just tried going from 75 to "Beginning", and it just showed me back to 31 again in this forum when the page loaded.

31 pages?

Only says 17 pages for me.

Can I put this down to a different amount of threads per page?

Hmm, it seems very strange that only one account would be affected. Are you getting the error with IE as well? If not, you might want to try clearing out all your history/cookies/offline content in Firefox and see if that helps.

DN: 31 threads. It showed me two pages containing thirty one threads. :)

Buck: I've already done both, before coming in and reporting this. No effect.

Try Dark and Light, that's a vBulletin forum.

I tried two vBulletin forums, the one DN gave and one that I frequent, and both worked fine. GameBanshee continues not to work.

I have now been struck by this bug as well.
When I set the time to "Beginning" and select "Show Threads" it resets the list box to "100 days" which is the default I've set in options.
If I set my options to "last 2 days" and then go back to the thread list in a sub forum and select time "Beginning" and "Show Threads" - it resets to "Last 2 days" again.

There seem to be an issue here. I can't recall I've changed any settings in my browser and the issue seems to be both in FireFox and IE.

I have been getting what might be a related bug with all of my browsers.

Threads that I have read will still come up in bold font. This makes a quick check into the forums I moderate less of a quick check.

I don't think that is related :)

This is exactly what I experience with both Opera and Firefox.

Hmmm, I really don't know what would cause this. It's possible that it's a bug within vBulletin, but I'm unable to reproduce it on my computer. It could be a bug associated with only certain browser versions. I'm currently using IE 7 Beta 3.

The way the bug shows on my computer, it does look to be serverside code which is the issue. But withouth access to the server code, I wouldn't know where to point to.
It looks as if it is a problem with "The Beginning" opition which causes an error/exception (perhaps on calculation/listing) and thus resets to option defined in the profile ... proberly my best bet off the top of my head.

If I select from "The beginning", it will reset to what ever standard I have set in my options, which currently last year, but when I tried with 2 days, it would reset to 2 days. It is only "The beginning" which gives this result, the other options doesn't seem to cause the problem, thus my above suspesion.

I'm having the issue with FireFox 1.5.0.6 (UK version), Opera 8.5 and IE 6.0 (Danish version). Thus I can't belive it would be a browser issue, it is just strange, because I'd almost swear that I didn't notice this behaviour when Hill wrote about it originally. But I am having it now :)

Hope this helps narrow the issue down. I can make a row of screenshots as well to illustrate the issue if needs be.

I just noticed I'm having precisely this issue as well. I tried to find a thread in Other Entertainment, and when I attempted to set my options so that threads showed "from the beginning" it reverted to "most recent" (or whatever the term is)
However, I can still put my settings to 100 days.
Weird...
