Ming Must Die problems...

Post by Tranquil-chan »

All right, now this is irritating. I chose the 'unaffiliated' ending for my character, and subsequently took on the Ming Must Die! quest. My problem is this: when I reach the doors that lead to the second level of the temple -the doors barred by a large plank of wood- I can't get through. I hover my cursor over the plank, and sure enough, the icon to 'push' comes up, but when I press the 'use' button, nothing happens.
I have tried everything I can think of- crouching, not crouching, running over every inch of that damn bar, screaming at the computer, emptying an entire clip into the door out of sheer frustration... you get the picture.
Any ideas as to what the hell's going on? I'm at the end of my rope here. ^^;
Yes, I know this has been discussed many times, and I tried the link to the other threads.... unfortunately it simply said 'no matches could be found'. Bleh.

Push, instead of using it. That means, walk into that short bar-push-thingie (or bpt) extending form the bar. If that doesn't work, face the bar and strafe right to push against the bpt. If it still doesn't work, save your game while strafing against the bpt, exit and load again.

If you are still having trouble, there has been a lot of discussion about this bug. Search for Ming on this forum and you should find a thread that is full of the various methods people have used to get past it. One of those will probably work :)

Personally I don't waste time with worring about this bug and frustration, I just Ncclip through.
Just activate you console with -console in the shortcut on the desktop so it looks like this;
Vampire - Bloodlines\vampire.exe" -console
Then activate it with ~ key and type noclip, go through the door then type noclip again to return to normal.
Trust me, most of the names I have been called you can't translate in any language...they're not even real words as much as a succession of violent images.

Okay. Maybe I'm stupid, but I still don't understand how to do the clip thing. Could someone explain in a bit more detail, please? Sorry.

Hey Lunar, check out the second "sticky" posting on this forum about "All V:TM info" or something of the nature and it links to all problems associated with V:TM bugs. Namely, it links to a 3 page forum discussion on your problem. On this disussion it also points out numerous ways to get around this problem with the door. Mr_Sir's solution worked best for me in which you stealth kill everyone (weee!, gotta love that music when you stealth kill) and then go to the door, save game, then instantly load game. Once you do this just push on that little protrusion from the bar and, voila.
