frost shield and rezist frost

OK this will probably sound stupid but whats the difference between frost shield and rezist frost

20 resist frost or 20 frost shield means the same thing when it comes to frost resistance. However the frost shield also gives you the effect of a normal 20 shield, increasing your armour by 20.

Also, as far as I know, there is no resist frost spell, only resist magicka. Frost shield can be enchanted on armour, resist magicka can't. As spells, a 20 strength 30 second duration Resist Magicka costs (at my skill levels) 146 mana, while a similar Frost Shield costs 26 mana.
