The Best Shield in Marrowind...period

Post by djemal »

I have searched the forum and have not heard anyone mention Eleidon's Ward, it's a big kite shield with an armor rating of 333, I have enchanted it with 2 constant effects enchantments, and this shield rocks, I found it with a whole cache of Daedric weapons and armor after a big fight in a dungeon, I have dumped all Daedric shields found, and use "z" to block in battle, is this a correct command? If anyone wants to know where I got it, just post here, I don't know the rules on spoilers... Great game, I played it for a year, put it down and started Tribunal, awesome.

Welcome to the Morrowind forums, and the Gamebanshee forums in general ;)
Spoilers aren't forbidden, but everyone puts them in black text (like this) so anyone who really wants to read them has to select them first. When you browse these or other MW forums, you'll notice that there isn't much in Morrowind that isn't discovered by the community yet, but yes, Eleidon's Ward is a great shield. It has a very high enchant rating and it looks good on any character. In fact I never enchant it, because I don't want the plastic spark effect to ruin my characters looks :D

Oh yeah I found it too. Its in a cave close the daedric ruin close to that Urshi-something camp. You will have to search through some underwater passages. There should be two dremora and a golden saint guarding a room, enter the room and look on the upper part of the wall opposite of the door. There you will find the shield as well as glorious riches. :)

Isn't Eleidon's Ward already enchanted with something like restore health 50 points? And it doesn't already have a brilliant white glow because of the enchantment?

Strange, when I found mine it wasn't enchanted at all. Perhaps a mod changed that, I had over 200 installed when I played the game so it's quite probable that some of them didn't do exactly what they were meant to.

I'm going to have to do some poking around in my game..... I'm almost certain it was like that the first time I found it..which was without any mods at all....
Really odd....

GameFAQs is an excellent resource. To quote:
Spoiler
Eleidon's Ward: Mounted on a wall in Ibar-Dad west of the Urshilaku
Ashlander Camp.

I was on my way to Urshilaku camp when i ran by the Ibar-Dad Tomb ( just
South-east of the ashurnubitashpi ruins ). If you Open the rusty gate and
swim your way in the water tunnel you will find another tunnel guarded by two dremora lord and then a golden saint, Kill them and open the giant door ( you need good lockpick skill or open lock spell/scroll ) beyond the door is a
tomb! Look around the corpse to find a Daedric helmet and shield. BUT if you
look up a bit you will notice a glowing shield! drink up a levitation potion
and grab it. its a Eleidon's ward shield! SL 320 with Restore health spell (
When Used )
In other words, you don't get it for free. You have a nice battle on your hands. ;) Still, if you want it, there it is.

er...ive just got the sheild but it has an armour rating of 130 on mine... not 333, is it meant ti have that much or was it a typo?

im playing the xbox version btw in case it makes a difference.

oh well ive got some pretty good loot to display in my stronghold :)

ill stick with my glass tower sheild for now i think

EDIT: it also already has an enchantment on it (restore helth 50-100) which means i cant put any more enchantments on it

It's no typo. The armor rating of anything is determined by your skill in that type of armor. I'm assuming that you are proficient in Light Armor, making Light Armor have more AR than Heavy Armor. djemal probably has more points in Heavy Armor, making the shield have a higher AR.

I'm glad somebody else has found this to be the case.. I was beginning to wonder if I was imagining things :D

Okay... So why on earth is it that some of us have this shield as already enchanted, while others do not? This is weird.

When in doubt, check for version differences.

So who is using the xbox, or the PC? Who has the GOTY version? Is everybody using the latest patch? And then, we compare who has the shield with the enchantment, and who doesn't.

Good point!

Okay, I'll start here, as I've stated, my game gives me an enchanted shield with 50 to 100 points of restore health:

*PC version
*GOTY edition
*latest patch (the Bloodmoon one)

*Xbox*

Maybe it differs between games. When I got it, it had a healing enchantment on it, though I chose to throw it away because I use Light Armor on my Khajiit and it didn't have a good Armor Rating. On my other file, a Nord, I got it and it has a really high Armor Rating.

I have an idea, instead of posting the AR of something why dont we post the quality of the armor and weapon, i.e. 500/500 or 1600/1600?

Sorry if this is off topic

You only find that out using the CS... Unless you mean the condition... Which doesn't affect protection at all...
