Looking for Enchantment Recipes...

Post by BlackJax »

Hey guys,

I have scoured the internet looking for some good enchantment recipes for bows. When I try to apply things which are to occur when the bow "Strikes", nothing seems to work properly. I'm sure that I'm not setting things up properly, but am very curious how to do it right.

I'm sure there is a post on this board for this, but, with no search feature, I couldn't locate it. So if you could give me the info or a link to it, I would greatly appreciate it?

Also, is there a good site that just has a lot of cool enchantment recipes for objects in general? I recently made a couple of cool ones, but it took me nearly 8 hours to pull off one clever one and two basic ones. As such, I would love to go to a site that has a whole slew of recipes. (I found one FAQ that had about twenty recipes, but most were "When Hits" on Swords and Leapfrog Amulets recipes.)

Thanks for the help,

BlackJax

I'm not sure about locations of sites with good 'recipes' as I usually just experiment until I find an enchantment I like. You could try searching the forum though using words/phrases such as 'enchantment' or 'enchant item' etc. while you are waiting for replies from people that know the game better than me :)

I'm not sure if in your post you meant there was no search feature on these forums or if there wasn't any particular words to search for. If you meant the former, there is a search function - just use the 'Search this forum' button underneath the page numbers or the 'Search' link on the main navigation bar at the top. Hope this helps.

I might have a reason...I think that it doesn't work because the Bow itself doesn't strike, the Arrows do. I could be wrong, but try enchanting the Arrows instead. Lemme know..

Good advice...

Hey guys,

I finally found the search engine, so that's helpful, although no one has quite come up with an answer to my issues.

As to striking, you appear to be very correct. If so, this is a program glitch from Bethesda, as they should have a "When Fired" option for bows. While this sucks, I guess there's not much hope for enchanting bows for anything other than constant effect ideas. Unfortunately, not all constant effect items work well with bows. If you put both 'Bound Bow' and 'Night Eye' on a bow, it locks up the Xbox version of the game and makes you reboot the entire thing. Nasty.

As to arrows, that's a good idea but you can't enchant arrows. However, apparently, if you Alchemically create a harmful effect potion, it can be attached to an arrow, so long as there are no positive effects in the potion. I'll have to play around with this.

Thanks and let me know if you run across any elaborate recipes.

My Bonemould Bow I enchanted with Constant Effect Walk on water.
Invaluable, because I can walk, jump, run across large islands and shoot down Cliff Racers as I go.

Swimming takes a freaking long time too.

How to enchant or otherwise ensorcel arrows?

Okay,

So how do you enchant arrows? They don't pull up in the enchant options when you go to an enchanter. I heard a lot of folks say you could put negative potions on arrows. Well, I tried to do that and only ended up poisoning myself.

Thanks,

I've never been able to enchant arrows in my game either....
I wonder if this another situation of different game editions...

Here's what I have...

Dragon Wench,

I have the Xbox version of Game of the Year Edition. I'm seeing lots of posts for "official" PC mods, but that helps Xbox folks out not at all. It seems absurd not to allow arrow enchanting without a mod...but it also seems absurd not to allow enchanting of bows with "Use on Fire" events.

I thought I was on to something when I heard about the poison potion on arrow equipping deal, but I guess that's just a rumor being spread around to see how gullible newbies are. (If anyone has official info to the contrary, I would love to hear about it.)

I wish there was a little more definitive info on this stuff.

Thanks,

Jeremy

Hmmm...
I have the PC version of the game GOTY.
I've never actually looked for mods on arrow enchanting, however, I've only installed shops that sell enchanted arrows. Not that this helps you any..

Anything I've ever read on this subject seems contradictory though. It's odd.

I was sure you could... Never done it myself though...

You could use damage spells on a bow. Would have to be "On target" though...

yeah...but...

Greg,

You could put damage spells on the bow, but the only useable echantment option is "On Use", which means you have to cast it like any other spell or cast enchantment.

If you can't enchant arrows, enchant the bow with some useful effects like, as Deadalready suggested, CE Waterwalking. Maybe give it CE Fortifications, or other spells such as Feather, Light etc. What I'm wondering is how you can find enchanted arrows, but not make them yourselves. I mean, those arrows must have been enchanted by someone.

true...

Berethor,

Yeah. Unfortunately, bows have a greater tendency to glitch when certain combos of CE spells are put on them. (Night Eye and Bound Longbow, for example, will lock the game badly.)

Your question about the arrows is the million dollar question. PC users can download an official update that has a seller who sells super-powered arrows (that work like 40mm grenade ammo), but that option isn't apparently in the XBox GOTY Edition.

I'm starting to believe that Bethesda got in a rush with this game and just glossed over most of the archery elements, which is why there are no "On Fire" options for enchanting, options for arrow cluster enchantments, or even a person who sells super-powered arrows in the original game. (I'm confused as to why these things wouldn't have been remedied in the GOTY Edition, considering all the extra time they had before releasing it. I mean, they have an armorer that will actually create ice, glass, and ebony armor in the GOTY edition, yet no one who will make magic arrows? *shakes head in disbelief*) In the end, all you can hope to do is find some randomly placed enchanted arrows that all seem to have been enchanted with really crappy spells.

To focus directly on definitively narrowing down the arrow question, I am posting specific questions on them on the main board to see if anyone else can help us out more specifically.

thats right, but you cant enchant arrows yourself. you CAN however get pre-enchanted arrows(u probly already knew that, but o well) and you can do cast when used enchantments on them but then it works like a spell that doesnt take magicka. you can also do CE but i find it a waste of a grand soul gem to use it on something with 40 pts(thats the enchant value of the bow with the most enchant points) anyway hope it helps
