Without Imoen - Spoiler
What happens if you tell Imoen that you don`t need her when you get to Spellhold?
Just curious as I`m thinking of doing just that.

Why feel guilty, you were kind enough to let the her live. I usually just send her off alone, unarmed and unarmoured, to battle a horde of marauding monsters. She soon gets the message.I don`t think I`d like that. I`ve just recovered from a lecture from Jaheira after kicking her out. "How could you after all I`ve done for your?" etc. Made me feel guilty for days after.
It's poor plotting on Bioware's, and one of the problems of tying a central plot elements to a character that you are not obliged to take.I never understood how she could make it to the Copper Coronet on her own. If she could do that, then why did my character have to go to Spellhold to rescue her?

But what about the other person?
SPOILER
I usually keep Imoen, but you have to get rid of another person. (Usually Nalia). She NEVER goes back to CC. I strip her of everything useful except for a few self-defense items. When I enter CC she isn't there. I can only assume that she is still in the dungeons of Spellhold...Oh well

I seem to recall that if you have Jan, you can let him go while on Brynnlaw before you enter Spellhold, and apparently he goes back to the slums.
I usually just release somebody before I take off from Athkatla because I don't like not having access to NPCs, just in case.
Plus.. as mentioned, it just doesn't seem right to base so much of the game on rescuing Imoen if you don't actually take her with you. Okay, there is the issue of revenge when it comes to Irenicus and his tortures, but even so.

To be honest though, I never really bought that angle either. I mean if Irenicus is that powerful does it make sense that a character would pursue him for revenge?Okay, there is the issue of revenge when it comes to Irenicus and his tortures, but even so.
While I think there are many wonderful aspects to this game, this aspect of the plot just strikes me as a little weak.

Well I suppose it would make sense if you do indeed wait until you've levelled a few times, acquired some good gear and a solid party to back you up.
But yes, I see what you are saying, it is a tad flimsy...
