Shadow Thieves Guild (possible spoilers)

Post by aldazir »

Back in Alkhaltha to wipe out Bodhi for the final time. Am running with a primarily good party and although I sided with the shadow thieves earlier I was never impressed with the torture etc. I witnessed in Aran Linvails basement. Basically Im considering wiping him,Renal Bloodscalp & their entire guild off the face of the map. Apart from the obvious loot and XP I might gain by doing this, is anyone aware of any disadvantages/ penalties that might result from my actions? :mischief:

I'm pretty sure it's impossible to kill everyone in the shadow thieves guilds unless you get a quest to do it, they just instantly kill you in one hit. At least that's what happened to me whenever I tried to kill Aran.

If you want to kill the shadow thieves, at least the main guild and Aran Linvail then you have to side against them at the end of chapter 2.
Remember, being Evil in Baldur's Gate 2 is VERY fun...

Do a search here on Aran. He's got enormous hitpoints, and is as nearly unkillable as possible. That's deliberate. ;)
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

As always I thank my fellow adventurers for their esteemed guidance. Perhaps my energies are better spent attending to the matters at hand ;)

Concurr.

Tried it 50 times over with various strategies. The problem is that all bunch of thieves come out of shadows and backstab your pc, everytime.

You could try installing Quest Pack. It's a Mod(ification) to the game which gives you the chance to deal with the Shadow Thieves even after siding with them.

I'm pretty sure you can kill them after finishing the underdark anyway, even without mods installed and regardless of siding with them or with Bodhi. Right?

Never tried that. I usually come back to them, and enlist their aid once more against Bodhi. I wouldn't know why it shouldn't be possible, though. After all, one has already completed the quest with the Shadow Thieves, and their role in the game has, by then, diminished significantly.

One problem you may have is if upon attacking, the game spawns a mean character who instakills with one hit, no save. I think his name is Arkanis or something, and there are methods of protecting yourself from his cheesey attack. The methods are in this forum somewhere.

Apart from that, go kill those thieves no worries.
