Weird Minor but Annoying Bug

When I'm running BG2 every so often I am unable to select the conversation path I choose, it works fine after restarting my computer but it gets on my nerves. For example I couldn't get the De'Arnise Keep as my stronghold because the script kept selecting "No Thanks."

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you using your mouse or your keyboard to select conversation paths? What are the specs of your computer and your mouse?

Dell Dimension
2.80 GHz
512 MB RAM

Standard Ball Mouse (The kind that comes with the dell package)

OT: I'm just getting back into this game after a long break, like when 1 GHz computers were still considered ridiculously fast.

1: Do you use your mouse or your keyboard to select things?

2: Have you noticed similar problems in other games or programs?

3: What mods and patches do you have installed?

4: Have you tried reinstallation, scandisk and defragmenting?

5: Have you tried using a different mouse? Open up your ball mouse and have a look at the rollers inside, these are notorious for getting clogged full of stuff.

Mouse

Nope, just BG2: SoA

None except for the patch straight from Bioware.

Yes, bug came up again. I'll try again sometime just to be sure.

Mouse works fine.

The bug doesn't seem to pop up anymore now that I've installed the baldurdash fixes for SoA.

It was weird, it never happened before with just SoA and the Bioware patch... (On an older PIII computer).

I think it's actually a keyboard glitch.. The keyboard automatically presses 5 somehow when I'm running BG2, hence it would pick option 5 all the time, usually ending things badly. Also I discovered this when I was trying to export my character, I couldn't type anything since 5's kept coming up.
