The 3 areas on level 1 should be done together as you will find the things you need to get down to level 2 in all 3 areas. As for the coloured rods, you can manage easily enough with one of each but there is no harm in collecting them all as you can always sell them once you no longer need them :)

Wow !!, that Blue Dragon is no "push over". He has a spell ring around him and it makes everyone cowards when they enter the room. I drank some potion ( clarity ) and he cannot work that spell on me,, but man he kicks my ass without it. All my henchmen are hiding in the corner as I take this thing on myself.

How come I cannot give potions to my henchmen or can I ?.

Ok, I figured it out. Just two of us Deekin and me stood in the doorway and hammered the Dragon with arrows. He came to the door and he started working both of us over ( killed Deekin )and with just a sliver of life left in me,, it went down.

Raised Deekin from the Dead, got everyone well, then we went into the chamber to look for goodies. "So far so good".

(ps) By the way,,,, I stole the sword from the Dead kings. That is one hell of a sword and I use it now.

Can you give Henchmen potions to Drink ?.

To give a henchman a potion, just drag it from your inventory to their portrait picture. They should then drink it. The same goes for animal companions.

I love that talking sword :) Its one of my favourite weapons in the game.

Hmmm ??. I did that and the bottle goes back into my sack. Is there a combo press on the mouse and Keyboard ?.

I also like telling Deekin what to do next in Battle ( protect me, throw spells, etc. )

I had a nice long talk with the large woman ( as she thinks ) fairy. I had to keep the others out of that room so they wouldn't kill her. Got good info from her and let her go.

The exit doors all around take you to other areas. Should I do all of those for EX points ?. I did get more Crystal lights

There is no special combination of buttons to press, I always just drag the bottle over the henchman portrait and they drink it so I have no idea why its not working for you.

As for the different areas. I'd recommend exploring the entire level (Fairy domain, Ogre domain and Central area) as there is a lot of loot and some nice items in that part of the game and the extra cash from selling it can come in very handy in Chapter 2 and 3.

Mr.

I'm in where the 3 guardians are. There are three statues. I can turn two of them, but the third says it is being held or stopped by a hidden mechanism. Where is this hidden device ?. I thought it was Another sequence thing with the levers,, but not so. I ahve looked in the room with the statues and on the ramp plus in the room from where I came from.

If it is in the Fairy Queen area then you need to turn a statue so it faces the locked door then quickly pull the lever beside it and it will lock in place. Repeat for each statue. They are on a timer so will reset if you don't lock them. If you can't move it then its either in the process of resetting or you have already locked it in place. If that is the case then leave the area and come back and they should reset themselves again.

When you say leave the area Do you mean take a door to some other part of the Dungeon and then come back ?. Because I have gone to other parts of that floor and came back and everything is the same.

Two of the statues I cannot move ( held ). They are in some kind of bubble. The levers will not respond. I got one statue to turn and fire at the door. Then I went to the others but can't move them. Not sure what it is ?.

The bubble around them means they are locked in place. When I say leave the area, I mean the entire level. I also think it resets itself after a certain amount of time but I'm not sure.

Mr Sir

Well,, for some reason it will not set back. I went to the second level and almost cleaned it out of baddies ( Drow and Hobgoblins ) and found Tomi dead. Then I headed back up stairs to turn the statues but they are still the same,, with two now frozen in place.

(2) I have accumulated a lot of stuff. Can I go somewhere to sell it to some merchant. I'm on the second level.

(3) I have found three chains ( yellow , purple and Green ) They ask for this at the stairway that leads down again. The door is magically locked and I cannot smash it down. So the combination to the color chains seems to be the lock opener ?. There is one more pillar there that looks Red. Now does the chains go to the color light of the pillar. That would be too simple. And is there one more chain ?

1. don't worry about it, the loot from the puzzle is not exceptionally good anyway :)

2. you can go back to the surface anytime you want by either walking or using your teleport device thing. just head back and sell your stuff.

3. there are 4 chains and you need to put them on the correct pedestals then activate the pool, make a careful note of the sequence of 6 colours and pull the chains in the correct order to open the door. if you get the order wrong, you will get a memphit/imp thing to fight.

Sir

(1) Are all the chains on level 2 or is there some on level one ?.

(2) Teleport,, meaning the Ring I have ( or what ever that is )?.

I think I used it once and it took me to some other place, not the surface.

All the chains are on level 2. One is on the body of a goblin that is being chased when you first enter the area. The rest are in each side section of level 2.

Yeah, that teleport thing takes you to a place then you just click on a door to return to a place you have marked as a teleport location. There is also a door in the middle that will take you back to the place where you started the Chapter, in the case of Chapter 1 this is the surface. Or if you would prefer you can always walk back to the surface (just go back to the entrance to level 1 and catch the lift back to the top).

Looking and looking

Ok, I went back to the Inn and sold the stuff I had. I gave some of the better Equipment to my henchmen. Everyone is close to 30 AC.

I'm having a hell of time finding that forth chain. In one of the rooms on level 2, there are three ( clored )floor levers. What are they for or what do they do ?. I have thrown them, but not sure what it did. I'm back in that room looking if I missed anything to open ( for the chain ).

Its been awhile since I last played HOTU so I'm not entirely sure which area you mean. Do you mean in the goblin area? If so then they are the levers the main goblin boss was pulling in order to cause the lightning strikes etc. so they don't really do anything if you pull them.

Which areas of level 2 have you done? There should be a chain on the goblin that is killed by drow when you first arrive on level 2. There should be one on the body of the goblin boss in the room with the levers. There should be a chain on the body of the main drow bad guy in the drow and deurgar section of level 2 (where you find Tomi). Lastly there should be a chain in the Rakshasa area where you find Linu.

This one I might not have found yet. I have not found Linu.
There is only three doors ( beside the one you come through )on level 2.

When you enter level 2 and face the locked door with the chains, if you go right there should be 3 doors. I think the middle one leads to the Rakshasa area. They will appear as slaves but if you search the area you should find a coffin with Linu's body in it. Once you do they will turn into Rakshasas (shapeshifting tiger things) and attack. They will also attack if you speak to them and trigger certain objects, or if you cast spells in their vicinity. I think the leader of these 'slaves' carries the chain.

By your directions the second door has a room in the back with a locked door that I can not open. I'm sure that this is the one I'm missing. Is there a key for it or is there some lever that opens it ?.
