Hey guys,
I was doing the last thief mission in the S. Mora/Wolverine Hall area in GOTY for the Xbox. The last mission is to go steal the obsidian staff from the mage that sells the scroll of Summon Golden Saint on the other island. (I can't think of the name of it off the top of my head.) I dosed up on Telikenesis and stole his staff, only to have him throw some Summon bonelords and Bonewalkers at me, as well as a number of attack spells. (I'm an Atronach sign, so I tend to let magic users wail away at me a bit, because I was unaware that they could cast any permament attribute damage.)
Anyway, low and behold, my strength gets sucked to 0 and I realize I can't move. As such, I use a Divine Intervention scroll and run away. Unfortunately, the base I transported to had already been alerted to my theft and immediately starts to attack me, so I end up using my Almisivi's Intervention to finally get safe enough to think. (I ended up in Wolverine Hall, after that.)
Anyway, my strength was sucked to Zero, but, lucky for me, I had some nifty fortify strength 24 Pts CE rings. After equipping both and dosing up with a couple of feather potions, I was mobile enough to search for a cure. Purchased a boatload of Restore Strength potions, but all they did was raise me to 22 strength pts. I then went to every temple from Wolverine Hall to Vivec to Balmora, going to every shrine to get healed of every malody from poison to common disease to blight to each shrine's special healing. Nothing helped.
I went and slept and my strength is still in the crapper. (Incidentally, I put the staff in a chest, just in case it was what was lowering my strength.)
I don't mind reloading a saved game, but I thought no magic could permanently lower attributes!!! I know that there are no such spells I can purchase, learn, or enchant! So how do I prevent this from happening again or heal myself now??
Thanks,
BlackJax

Have you tried sleeping off the effects of the strength boosting potions before taking the restore strength potions? If strength enhancing items prevent your restore potions from working than it is likely restore strength potions will do the same.
Also, I generally use the Atronach sign myself and I often find that when selecting Restore Attributes/Almsivi Restoration at a shrine/temple I need to try it several times before it works. It seems that the absorb magic aspect of the Atronach can also "protect" you from beneficial magic.
The only other thing I can suggest is maybe a dispel magic potion. I'm not at all sure it would work, but it's worth a shot. Again, make sure you are not under the effect of any strength enhancing items or potions when you try it.

Thanks for the info...
Hey guys,
I am not going to have a chance to play again until the weekend (busy week at work!), but that tidbit about the strength enhancing items sounds like it's the ticket. Because I didn't want to get stranded anywhere, I had my strength enhancing rings equipped during the entire thing, even during the potion of restoration drinking. I'll need to go buy some restoration potions, drop my gear at one of my hideouts (especially the booster rings), chug my potions, and probably go to sleep.
Dragon wench, I noticed the multiple healing thing about the temple, as well, and your theory about being an atronach seems correct. Now that I do know it's Almsivi's Restoration I want, that'll give me a specific thing to go to, rather than trying every shrine out! For some reason, the shrine's keep being willing to heal me from blight. They say I'm not poisoned and, after only three or four healings, they say I'm no longer diseased, but they continue to cast blight restoration whenever I asked for that. It may be confusing the game because my strength fortifying rings won't let me get my strength restored, and lowered strength is a sign of blight.
Thanks again guys,
BlackJax

Imperial cult shrines...?
Triline (or whomever knows the answer),
What's the difference in services offered at Temple Shrines and Imperial Cult Shrines?
For some reason, I thought that the Imperial Cultists hung out at the Temples. (You can tell I've been paying lots of attention to that element of the storyline.*lol*) As the Imperial Cult is pretty much the only faction I'm not a member of (outside of the Morag Tong), I haven't kept up on where their locations are.
Please tell me more...
