Need some Archer Information

Hi there i started Oblivion again and i this is what i chose :

The Theif and the Archer

I would like to know where can i get a good bow and what are the melee weapons should i use for as my back up weapon, also where can i get good Arrows?

The best bow I could find at the beging was ether the fine steel bow from a fighting chance or silver bows from killing gurds

melee: short sword iron/steal/silver/elven/glass/deadric or dagger(the dagger you get from the dark brotherhood in a early quest) or a elven/glass/deadric....

bows: level up your sneak skill till you can pickpocket a guard for their bow
or check out fighting chance as said before.

melee: look around the mages guild for a silver dagger.

don't get anything to heavy like a longsword.
Try to keep yoru character as light as possible
and don't worry about having a powerful melee weapon. you should be able to kill most things that come your way with a a sneak attack (bow), a couple arrows, and if still alive you take out your dagger and whack it a couple times.
ps:as you level up better weapons will become available to you.

im using a glass bow enchanted with fire damage and a glass longsword also with fire damage. i dont think its that important that the weapons are light because the armour should be light anyway (i dont like heavy armour) and the sword is good enough to kill most things on its own even though my blade skill is low

Mr Arrow is in the gold with the pickpocketing a guard option. But you need a pretty decent Sneak skill to do it. And you'd better SAVE before you try it!
Try to take his money first. If that goes ok, save again then try for the bow.

Dagger and short sword are the weapons of choice for any archer you meet in the game. And they are good for you, too. They don't do the damage a larger weaon does, but you get in MUCH more hits because they are so fast. (Make sure to come OUT of Sneak mode as soon as you go into melee. Sneak mode cuts down drastically on your melee speed.)
