Milk the parent folk. If you wnat the computer for christmas, just ask for that computer in lieu of any birthday or christmas presents for a year, its how I got dad to cough up for a 360.
If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him.

Well I have a reasonable idea. These days you can make 100k doing nothing but making a good webpage and using google ads. Let's say you make a gaming website and you get a 100 new people every day. I don't believe people have to click on them for you to get the money so 7 cents per viewed ad, you can make quite a bit of money. The more popular your site is the more money you get. It's all up to you

Learn a simple programming language (I Reccomend JustBASIC), and start making programs for your neighbors.

I'm great with kids as my nan is a childminder but it isn't legal for me to babysit here until I am 14. (december the 9th)shana wrote:ML, have you considered babysitting?? If you are good with/enjoy children, you can make a lot of money. The kids in my neighborhood earn an average of $10 an hour. Some of the good ones earn as much as $20. The best part is that most of the time the children you are keeping will be asleep, so you are basically getting paid to read, watch TV, do homework, etc. Kids start babysitting here around the age of 11 or 12, and the Red Cross offers training classes.
I like JI's and Chu's idea to. But as luis says it would be expensive to upkeep a website and I'm not to sure about the programming.

Programmings easy, until you get into C languages in the like. But you wouldnt need C, with a low level Language, such as BASIC or COBOL.Magelord648 wrote: I like JI's and Chu's idea to. But as luis says it would be expensive to upkeep a website and I'm not to sure about the programming.
There's nothing mystical about programming computers. Although the newest software on the market today begins to look like magic, all software is built from the ground up out of combinations of the simplest software parts. Once you learn what these software parts are and how they're used, hard work and imagination can take you almost anywhere.
Programming is (simply put) the laying out of simple steps to solve a problem, and in a way that a computer can understand. This is a little bit like teaching a person. These steps must be arranged in the correct order.
For example:
How to drive a car with automatic transmission:
Get into drivers seat ;
Fasten safety belt ;
Insert ignition key and turn it to start engine ;
Press brake with foot ;
Move transmission selection to D ;
Look around to see if you're safe ;
Remove foot from brake ;
Press accelerator pedal with foot ;
Manuever into traffic ;
Don't crash
Obviously if the above steps are scrambled up (and maybe even if they aren't) you're in for a pretty big insurance claim. Not only that, but if the instructions are given to someone who speaks only, say, Chinese, we will have a similarly spectacular crash! In the same way, computers are particular about both the order and content of the instructions we give them.
A program in its simplest form usually contains three kinds of activity:
INPUT The program asks the user for some kind of information ;
CALCULATION The program transforms or manipulates the information ;
OUTPUT The program displays the final result of CALCULATION
It is the programmer's job to determine exactly how to accomplish these steps.

That's confused me even more. I'm going to go with the babysitting. I also live by a retirement home where I might see if I can help out. Keep the ideas coming.

I don't know what neighbourhood you live in, but if you live in a town/city with a decent number of inhabitatans, I think helping other people is the way to go.
Apart from lawn-mowing in the summer and show-shoveling in the winter, washing cars and babysitting, you can also consider:
helping primary school-age children with home-work
going out with dogs (a lot of school kids do that where I live)
taking care of people plants/pets when they are away
shopping of food (or other items where the person does not need to be present)
You can also participate in paid surveys online. I don't know about the UK, but in Sweden it's become quite popular among school kids to participate in various on-line surveys. You usually get equivalent to £2-3 for each survey you perform, so if you do 10 surveys/month it's some money. In Sweden you have to be 14 to do this, though.
I don't know if this is serious and I don't know if it's an ad or not, but just to show you what I mean:

£500 is still a large sum of money when you don't have a job, so my suggestion is that you try to negotiate with your parents that they pay part of this as a Christmas gift/birthday present and you save up for the rest. You can always threat them by saying you'll sell nude pics of yourself to paedophiles on the internet if they don't help out finacially .

Thanks. I will almost definatly do that.
Alot of people are saying about going to my parents. They don't have the money to pay for some of it.

The little Beelzebubs I used to babysit for next door... I've had my fair-share of jobs but those kids were just horrible. I babysat for my cousins and others too who were just great, but those ones made me stop: I've been doing lanwcare ever since. Yes, it was that bad.shana wrote::laugh: :laugh: So, are you saying that they break things and cry??
