In Australia, we go to the beach all the time... it just doesn't take half a week travel to get there. It's more like an hour's trip to the Gold Coast/Sunshine Coast, then you have yonks to enjoy it, with an annoying trip back, covered in sand and all icky and uncomfortable.
@Juni: Aww, great, I got a bit of a week off a fortnight back... though I was sick in bed, so I guess it's not the same.
