books?

i just started the game and im finding these books that just contain iformation about the town and the history of things etc... their not magic or anything. can i drop them after i read them or will i need them.

Most books, if not all, can just be dropped or sold

Some books do have some interesting stories and provide some good background if you are unfamiliar with the "Forgotten Realms" setting. But if don't want to worry with them during the game several (but not all) are available at the page below on this site.

All of the Baldur's Gate books are available this way, and some of titles are identical to the ones to IWD.
