As happy as I am and as long as I've waited for this, I'm kind of appauled at the fact that they went more modern on this one. I love Fable because of the setting and time, not because its realistic. I play games because it's an escape from reality, and yet it seems like this among other games are becoming more and more like today's society. That really annoys me. I'm definitely not going to buy it, I'm going to rent it first, like I do any other game I don't give half an ass for. It's been how many months and years since the original? And this entire time I loved playing Fable leads to some Britain based Contenintal War game with Demons? Nice plot, Lionhead, Touche.
Once again, I really and disappointed with Fable 2.

I agree with you here but in what way does games nowadays reflect today's society?Slayer_71 wrote: I play games because it's an escape from reality, and yet it seems like this among other games are becoming more and more like today's society. That really annoys me.
''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. The duty of every soldier is to protect the innocent, and sometimes that means preserving the lie of good and evil, that war isn't just natural selection played out on a grand scale. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price
I know what you mean, and they are games I play. But still, I loved Fable because I could tune out the real world for half and hour to half a day at a time.
But now that Lionhead turned away from the fantasy old world that Fable was, and made it look more like England, and less like Albion. If I wanted to play a game with England I'd go rent Professional Cricket.

I think Lionhead will still be able to keep the fantasy setting even though they modernise the world Fable is set in. About the changes, I'm not surprised that it looked more modern because think about it: Fable 2 takes place 500 years after the events of Fable: TLC so by then, the population in Albion will have doubled or even tripled leading to more buildings in Albion.Slayer_71 wrote: But now that Lionhead turned away from the fantasy old world that Fable was, and made it look more like England, and less like Albion. I agree that Albion in Fable 2 does look like 17th century England but just bear in mind that Albion is Latin for England according to an interview with Peter Molyneux by a gaming site a long time ago. He said that he thought Albion is a suitable name so he decided to go with it ever since. That's why I'm not surprised that Albion in Fable 2 mirrors 17th century England.

I still don't know if I want to buy Fable 2. Especially if they come out with TLC of it like they did with the original, and I'd end up 40 dollar poorer than I started out. I don't know, is anyone REALLY excited about the changes made, or am I just being a conservative pessimist?

If you're really unsure as to whether you want to get Fable 2, I suggest waiting for a while for further details to emerge as to the status of Fable 2 since its too early to speculate how Fable 2 will turn out to be. Personally, I suggest waiting for a gameplay demonstration of Fable 2 and look up interviews and previews of the game before deciding if its worth buying or not.

That's what's itching me, I normally will buy a game just based on what you see on TV and love it. So it's killing me to think that Fable 2, a much waited for and anticipated Insta-classic, turned my head sideways like a deaf dog seeing a porno.

When I first saw the trailer, I had the exact same thougts as you, slayer.
I loved Albion how it was, all midevil like. And the colonial setting was a major dissapointment. It wasn't broke, don't fix it.
BUT! after many hours of speculation, I've decided... ITS FABLE!!!
it doesn't matter if its in 17th century England! It will still be a great game
