Nenalata and Lindai (SPOILERS)
Right so I've come across these two dungeons and have reached an impasse in both. In Lindai a door that takes a key that's nowhere to be found, and in Nenalata a dead end with life signs (detect life spell) behind it.
Anybody solve these?

Sonic Boom, Baby!
You need SPOILERS in your title!
Anyways, highlight to read - Lindai is related to the quest called the Secrets of the Ayleids that you get from Umbacano at the Imp. City. I haven't finished it all yet, but as far as I know Nenalata is part of it too.

And He whispered to me in the darkness as we lay together, Tell Me where to touch you so that I can drive you insane; tell Me where to touch you to give you ultimate pleasure, tell Me where to touch you so that we will truly own each other. And I kissed Him softly and whispered back, Touch my mind.

It's not a threat. It's a statement of the way we operate, and it holds true for everybody. It is designed to get through to all, including those who don't get politeness and subtlety--and we have our fair share of these. If you got the message, then good, and we can move on.
If you wish to continue discussing this, however, please respond via PM (personal message). Thanks.

Spoilers Abound - You've been warned
Okay, I've finished this quest line one way. First off, I obtained the Aeylid panel from Malada's High Fane and when I emeged from those ruins I couldn't help but notice three ominous and heavily armored/armed guys outside. Rather than confronting them (Merick and his pals, perhaps) I quick traveled back to Umbacato's house with the panel without confronting them. After Umbacano gave me the next quest I talked to Cinna and took her advice to give Umbacano the Lindai helm, fearing that he was up to no good and might be dangerous. I obtained the alternate helm form Lindai then cleared out Nentalata as far as I could. I gave Umbacato the Lindai helm and then escorted him into the Nentalata throne room. Sensing a trap, I quickly backed out of the room as Umbacano was electrocuted and his bodyguard (Merick) was attacked by a half dozen liches. I dispatched the liches and escaped in one piece. Just wondering if I played the quest and my hunches correctly. I assumed Merick (or whatever his name is) was going to jump and rob me as I emerged from Malada with the panel. I assumed Cinna was telling the truth about how dangerous Umbacato was and double-crossed him with the substitute helm. Can anyone tell me if I played it right?

There's two alternate ways to play it. Your way you just described, and the other way is to give him the real crown.
Instead of getting electrocuted, when he puts on the real crown he is transformed into an Ayleid - and attacks you (as well as all those Lichs appearing still). Doing it this way, you get to keep the Ayleid crown once you kill him.

SPOILERS on Ayleid helm

When Umbacano becomes an Ayleid is there a physical change in him? Does he turn into a skeletal champion or something like that? The Lindai helm that was destroyed was vastly superior to the Nentalata helm in the magnitude of its enchantments. The artwork for the game always shows a warrior wearing an Ayleid helm (could that be Umbacano in the drawing?). I wonder if there are any other cool Ayleid helms to be found in the game besides these two and the one recovered for the mage quest? I'll try using the TESCS to see if there are others.

I realize that this thread is somewhat old, but, I've stumbled upon the Lindai ruin AFTER the episode with Umbacano and the transformation into the evil Ayleid.
Now, I've reached the 'an irregular shaped' door that needs a key and don't have anything on me to open it.
Is it possible to find it at this point?

You mean go back, if I am understanding you correctly? Well if it is locked then probably no, not without cheats.

Well, I probably jumped the gun on the Collector's Quest and went with Umbacano before I got all the statues.
So, now his trophy case only has 4 instead of 10 and I can't get into the Royal Tomb of Lindai.

Ah, yes, I have been avoiding precisely that for my own reasons of being overly pedantic But can't you get the statues once he's gone, for you?

I suppose I could. In fact, I've actually collected more than the four that are displayed in his trophy case.Ashen wrote:Ah, yes, I have been avoiding precisely that for my own reasons of being overly pedantic But can't you get the statues once he's gone, for you?
So.....would collecting the remaining ones allow me to locate that 'key' I need for the Lindai tomb?

Let me be honest, I have no idea, but I doubt that. Considering you have already finished that part of the game, I don't think so. There is always the cheat/spawn option if you really need to get back there. And why would you anyway, I am curious?Dyre Straits wrote:I suppose I could. Why wouldn't I want to get back there?
Is it possible to get a key from someone else? I'm wondering if the key is something that can be acquired from another party? From what little I've read so far, it seems that this item may be that kind of object.
EDIT: Well, I guess this is off limits without using a spawn cheat. And, I'm not too keen on using those so I'll likely just pass on it.
I went to Herminia Cinni's house in the Elven District and waited for her to go to sleep. She doesn't have this particular key on her and it's nowhere to be found inside, either. Would have been nice if someone had made it an item to be stolen off her or something.

The two helms are not very different...

The best way to complete this quest is to get the key for the Lindai ruins from HC, then cruise up to her house and steal the Nenalata helm. You get both helms that way.

The Lindai Helm and the Nenalata Helm are leveled to your character. If they have vastly different enchantments then you collected them at vastly different levels during play. The Lindai Helm has Fortify Alteration and Illusion with Resist Magic. The Nenalata Helm has Fortify Alteration and Conjuration with Reflect Spells. The level of the character determines the power of the enchantments.....The Lindai helm that was destroyed was vastly superior to the Nentalata helm in the magnitude of its enchantments.....

So I'm not such an idiot? (spoiler)
I came across this fort and could not figure out how to get to a section that seemed to need some type of special item to open it. I thought it was me but if I read this thread correctly, I need to get the tablet to "U" first. I have this quest but have yet to do it.
After my recent idiocy in the game (see my "Argh" thread) I'm glad this is not more of the same.

A Way To get the Helm Without the Quest.
If I'm not mistaken, you can get the Lindai Crown whenever you want, without having to do the quest...ever. When you walk into Lindai, you might notice a platform above your head that is on the second level. Using the boots of Springheel Jak and some effort you might be able to jump onto the platform and acquire the helm.

Okay, some people who have a high acrobatics skill and the Boots of Springheel Jak can make the jump. Others who cannot can use the 'paintbrush glitch'. You may notice that when you drop a paintbrush it floats in the air, where you dropped it. Using this glitch, you can make a sort of staircase and make it up to the platform.
