I'm glad you'd have to get accross customs to reach me. I'm also glad that the customs at the Ambassador Bridge are run by the Americans as well, which means you can't try and get innocent Canadians to let you by. :D

Nice going, Chu. :) But why is the insurance so hideously expensive?

The people who handles the insurance took one look at Norway and figured that this was another way to suck money out of the people? :D

Grats by the way :)

I think I'll start walking across roofs to get to work now. :speech:

And Fable, it was that expensive for my insurance when I turned 16 also. That was 15 years ago in CA, so I'm sure it's more expensive now.

Never had the need to take my driver license, which we can do at the age of 18 here. Living in the city with everything I need within 10-15km I've been used to biking distances all my live, so I didn't want to shell out big money for simply getting a licence when I had no intention to get a car either (which cost even bigger money.)

So grats to you for your permit @Chu, and don't go dragracing all night long right away.

@Xan: Obtaining a Driver License is much cheaper here in the States than it is elsewhere, especially in Europe. As I recall, it's quite expensive for a European to obtain such a license.

@Chu: Congrats! If you're going to drag, just do it where it's legal and safe. ;)

<snip>
Roughly calculated to us$ I'd estimate that a for a person not having problems it would cost around 1400$ to 2000$ to optain a license last I looked, and it can easily run up if you need more driving technique classes.
And on top of this comes expensive cars due to taxation and a high insurance cost and a high fuel cost (currently about 6.5$ per gallon).... so, naaa - I think I'll spend that money elsewhere when it isn't neacesary for me to have a car.
Expensive in Denmark :)

Considering that the Car

A) Runs Near 200 MPH in the 1/4
B) Runs through it's fuel tank in a 1/4 mile
C) Get's the water Temp near Boiling on each pass
D) Isn't street legal
E) Needs Sticky on the Track
F) Is way to cool to get torn up by Gravel and punks

I'll only be racing at the track. ;)
