1) The books important to read for this thread are as follows:
Faiths & Pantheons
Player's Handbook
Dungeon Master's Guide
Monster Manual
Any manual unmentioned that applies to your deity (ie: A certain prestige class from The Complete Warrior)
2) This thread is intended for members to show their creative sides. The most important parts of any deities you create are (for the most part) to follow the format of the book Faiths & Pantheons, particularly the areas of the entry that include:
- The deity's name, title(s), holy symbol, and home plane
- The deity's portfolio, alignment, and worshippers
- Applicable cleric alignments (in case the cleric alignments that your deity has are different than the normal '1-step-away' rule) and cleric domains
- Their holy symbol and favored weapon (Give the name of their weapon and what type it is in parenthesis next to it)
- The Deity's possessions (items on the deity - including the enchantments/properties of their favored weapon - and any other significant items on them)
- The deity's special divine powers (Porfolio Senses, Automatic Actions, and Create Magic Item) except for normal senses. Should it really matter how well they see, hear, or smell?
- The deity's divine rank (ie: Lesser/Intermediate/Greater Deity. Numerical divine rank is not completely necessary but helpful)
- Avatars of the deity
3) Note that this thread uses 3rd or 3.5 Edition rules (please notify in the title of your post), so be careful to follow them as well as you can.
4) Descriptive text, such as their history (including relationships with other deities), dogma (basic teachings of the deity's faith), and notations on clergy and temples are not required but will help bring some explanation to their existance.
5) If you are familiar with the Heralds and Allies statistics that originated from the book Complete Divine, you may use those as well.
6) If you feel compelled to post a deity that may contain the portfolio of existing deity, then use that specific portfolio and combine it with another portfolio. We can act like the Faerunian or racial/creature pantheons are whiped clean, but let's try our best not to copy a previous or existing deity.
However, this thread is meant to utilize deities that are in charge of concepts of Faerun that haven't been represented by a deity yet, particularly those that affect at least 100 people or creatures.
7) Keep in mind that GameBanshee rules are as enforced in this thread as elsewhere. Any flaming or ridicule of people's work is prohibited. Exposing & explaining a possible error is permitted, but don't make fun of the person for it.
In all, here's an example of the minimal requirements
3.5 Edition deity
Jasdouhan
The King of the Lonely Mountain, The Errant Mountaineer, He Who Tests the Bold Climber, The Unmovable Speaker
Lesser Deity
Symbol: A bearded young man with a goat’s head crossing his arms on the peak of a snowy mountain
Home plane: House of Nature
Alignment: Lawful Good
Portfolio: Mountains, hills, benign hermits, mountain climbing, stoicism, tests of survival
Worshippers: Rangers, Paladins, Druids, Wizards, mountain climbers, hermits who help others in their vicinity, mountain rescuers, werebears
Cleric Alignments: LG, LN, NG
Domains: Air, Cold, Good, Earth, Law, Storm
Favored Weapon: Climber’s Friend (Pick) <Light or Heavy Pick>
Weapon: Jasdouhan wields Climber’s Friend, a heavy pick with the Axiomatic, Holy, Icy Burst, and Keen properties.
Other Divine Powers
Portfolio Sense: Jasdouhan senses any action that takes place on a hill or mountain, such as a battle or a climbing expedition, 12 days before and after the event happens. He is likewise aware of any sentient being that decides to go into hermitory for the sake of others and when a person becomes very stern with others.
Automatic Actions: Jasdouhan can use Climb, Jump, Knowledge (Geography), Knowledge (Nature), Listen, Profession (Mountaineer) or Spot as a free action if the DC for the task is 2o or lower. He can perfom up to five such free actions each round.
Create Magic Items: Jasdouhan can create any item that aids in mountain climbing, such as magical climbing gear, Boots of Springing and Striding, or other such equipment, as well as weapons and armor directly associated with surviving on mountains or the wilderness, such as axes, hammers, spears, or daggers. All of these items must not exceed the market price of 30,000 gold.
Avatars: Jasdouhan makes occasional use of avatars, and they always have two things in common. They have beards, and cross their arms whenever they stand still and sternly converse with mortals. Some may have other more unique features, such as their heads and feat being that of a mountain goat. If an avatar does uncross their arms while standing, then that means that the deity is looking to take a particular action, depending upon the situation. Woe to those who do ill and see an avatar of Jasdouhan uncross its arms. They will often appear to benign beings who are in need of help on a mountain but are beyond the reach of any beings, often dashing at all speed to their side.
Herald and Allies: Jasdouhan’s herald is a 20-HD Celestial Goat with a long brown beard. His allies include Hound Archons, Ancient Silver Dragons, and Elder Earth Elementals.
Other useful (but not vital) information may include this:
Jasdouhan
Paladin 20/Ranger 10/Wizard 10

If you wish to go for the gusto and post statistics that include character statistics (Attacks, AC, class spells, etc.) and divine-specific statistics (Salient Divine Abilities, Domain Powers, Spell-Like Abilities, Divine Immunities), then go ahead. Hopefully, everyone should have no trouble reading (through) your entries.
If you have fun following the rules in the end, then fun is what this can be!
