I believe Fiona means on the scale of there being a great deal of posters who have posted then vanished without ever posting again, nor intending to.
With my vague knowledge of the last member pruning...that cut down on the number of GB members by quite a significant amount.

And I'd have to agree with Luis...I think you just belittled someone (both by diminishing them to a number and laughing at their point of view), CE. :)

One more or one less member will not make much difference to the advertisers when there are nearly 30,000 registered members. Maybe I'm being blind but where in the PM does it mention advertisers? The reason given for not deleting the account is because it will cause problems with the database by messing up links and posts in threads, not because of advertising revenue.

It didn't mention advertising. That is why I asked.

i believe that number is in reality much, much smaller...sure there may be that many members but how many of those "members" havent posted in months if not years?...If all the member's accounts who havent posted in, say, 90 days where deleated what whould that number be?

First of all, Bucks comment has a serious, and logical point. If you delete a persons account, as he says, all of the posts will end up as "guest". If the member in question had say, 50 posts, I cannot say this would be a serious problem in a board that has so many posts. Someone having over 8,000 posts however, is a different matter entirely. His point is that it could seriously affect the board in ways that may not crop up soon, but if a search is done for those posts later on or something, it could cause one of those errors everyone hates so much.

Secondly, CE, does it never bother you that you are demeaning to everyone who holds a different view than you and get away with it becuase you have been here for so long and are intelligent enough to work within the rules? I mean really, just because you don't curse at someone, doesn't mean it's ok to belittle people and get away with it. There are quite a few of you mods who go out of your way to belittle people, knowing full well it doesn't fall across into the "foul zone" of the rules Buck has instated. THIS is what has everyone in a tizzy. You realize this, don't you?

No, I am not sarcastic, but I can remove the smilie if it makes you feel better. I am saying the same as Phreddie, that Fiona, like you and me and everybody else, is just 1 out of several thousand members, most of which frequent the game forums, not SYM.

Reason: happier now Luis?
This could also be construed as a flame against Luis. In fact, it was not just he who noticed the nature of your post.

I was sayin that the advertisers, not we posters or the staff, see her as a number.

Could we please not start the You Flamed Wars? Honestly, no amount of civil disobedience is going to change the way in which the recent policy was enacted, reinstate membership, or modship. Just ride the wave, things will come to another change sooner or latter. All waves have troughs and crests, highs and lows.

It isnt the new thread limits or even so much the two mods being demoted with *no* reason...its the mods suddenly treating everyone like dirt!
Have you seen how the SYM has suddenly lost almost all it's traffic?

Oh, but the Rolling on the Floor, laughing my Ass Off leaves no doubt to me, dear. It seems that you're directly assaulting Fiona. Will you edit?

If you or anyone else has a concern about moderators then contact Buck via PM and voice your concerns so that he can make the decision as to whether anyone is at fault.

I'd rather do it here, if it is all the same to you, Mr Sir. After all that is where the mods do it at least some of the time ;)

*shrugs* I agreed with the thread limits to be honest. Buck presented good reasons, despite all the whining. "suddenly" hasn't come into the picture. This was brought up months ago, and nothing was done about it.

Yes, I have. To be honest, I am shocked. I didn't think you people had the stomach to leave.

Ahh, but I was given a reason, just an unjustified one, that will not be discussed either in public or privately with me. :) But that's a point best suited for discussion between me and Buck.

Make sure you report it to the SYM mod too, so it's given the attention by the moderating staff it requires. :D

Rav, the reason wasn't entirely unjustified, I am sorry to say. To be honest, I would suggest rereading the reason, and thinking really hard about it. ;)

It wasn't clarified to me though. I wasn't told whether it was due to my moderating, confidential information leaking, an issue with my moderating duties, my participation in the mod forum or anything else.

As I said, this is better suited for a different time and place.

P.S. Moderators of this forum, you must know that at this time many members who frequent this particular section of Gamebanshee are not particularly happy with you at this particular moment. However justified or unjustified their griefs may be in your opinions, the fact remains that there are quite a few disgruntled members here. Would it be so wise to provoke, even unintentionally, these embittered folks? Remember, there are times when discretion is the better part of valor.
