i was wondering what peoples opinions were on choosing their classification to make the ultimate character. i think it depends on the person and what skills they use the most.
what i did was make a list of all the different skills in the game and put their governing attribute next to them. then i seperated them according to their governing attribute. i figured that there were 8 attributes (strength, agility, speed, endurace, willpower, personality, intelligence, and luck) of course there are no skills that are governed by luck, but anyways. i decided that my favorite attributes that i use throughout the game were strength, agility, speed, endurance, and intelligence. so i chose two skills for each of my favorite attributes (5 major, 5 minor). i chose the skills by looking at the list of skills in each governing attribute and chose the two that i use the most out of that attribute. that way i'm using the skills i want and the skills i use the most and they make me level up at an extremly fast rate.
i chose the atranoch as my sign because i figured that it will provide me with some sort of help the entire game whereas others like the steed or the lover or the mage, only provide help till you get to a certain level or max out your attributes then they have no use at all. plus the atronoch kind of makes up for the willpower attribute being ignored. i don't really care for personality.
the race i usually choose is dunmer because they are well rounded and they can look evil if you want them to. i like evil.
but, i thought that maybe someone else has a better strategy at going about chooseing a classification. or a different way to look at things. i appreciate any feedback, as i am always looking for differrent ways to play.

I normally decide what kind of character I want to play, such as a Necromancer or a Paladin etc., then choose the kind of skills I think would be suited to that class (I always play as a custom class). In the game, I level up attributes which I think that character would develop rather than just all of them and I also try to only select the kinds of spells I think they would use.
The race and sign just depend on how I feel at the time, but if I'm playing something like a druid then I'd be more likely to go for wood elf and as a paladin I'd be more likely to go for something like Breton or Imperial.

I've always played as a custom class as well, so I can control what my highest skill are, and what's easiest to find training for so I can level up more often. I play a custom race called the Arimer, or the Sky Elf. Slightly unbalancing but still fun...
Only the savage reguard the edurance of pain as the measure of worth.
I do it for the opposite reason - I like to choose the skils I know I'll use as that character and avoid training altogether. It means you level up slower but I like the challenge this adds.amora_pwns wrote:I've always played as a custom class as well, so I can control what my highest skill are, and what's easiest to find training for so I can level up more often..

i appreciate your inputs
anyways, i just meant that i am trying to find a better strategy to level up faster but naturally, as well as use the skills i use the most. what better way than to choose skills (your favorites of course) that level up your favorite attributes also?
thank you and i appreciate everyones input. if you come up with more ideas, please, please, please, let me know.
i agree and disagree with mr_sir. i choose the skills i know i'll use too, but wouldn't that make you level up faster? because you use the skills all the time so you are constantly adding points to your level.mr_sir wrote:I like to choose the skils I know I'll use as that character and avoid training altogether. It depends on which skills you choose. Some level up slower than others as they are not used as often even though you use them more than some other skills. For example, I often play mage type characters with unarmoured skill. As I use levitation a lot and rarely get close enough to be hit, my unarmoured rises slowly but it is still the main armour skill I use. Alchemy only levels up when I want to make potions so although I never buy potions, it would level up slower than combat skills. Same with enchant. The only skill that I find levels up quite quickly is destruction and that soon ends up maxed out.Rein wrote:i agree and disagree with mr_sir. i choose the skills i know i'll use too, but wouldn't that make you level up faster? because you use the skills all the time so you are constantly adding points to your level.
If you took an armour skill and weapon skill then they would level up fast with certain characters but not with the type I play or with my style of playing. Also, by not using trainers at all, you are relying on situations where you would use these to level up. I have mods installed that stop harmless animals attacking you just for the sake of it unless they are provoked, again cutting down on the level up speed. I also never choose skills such as acrobatics or athletics as these increase so fast anyway it would be ridiculous as I'd constantly be levelling up.
If you want to level up faster then the best way is to practice your skills (such as constantly use them when not in battle) and by visiting trainers. Also, some skills do level up faster than others so choosing these would make you level up faster. Things like light armour, medium armour, heavy armour level up very fast in combat situations.

you are ABSOLUTELY right. i see things differently now. wow. ok. that was exactly what i needed. thanks.mr_sir wrote:It depends on which skills you choose. one more question, how fun is it to levitate and kill from the ski? i never really tried it. of course i use magic and melee weapons both so i'm on the ground more.
the only time i'm in the air is when i travel by use of an amulet i made called the amulet of hight and distance. IT IS EXTREMLY FUN! it is enchanted with 50pts jump for 15 secs on self and slowfall 1pt for 20 secs on self. the slowfall is for protection. i noticed when you put the slowfall higher (even 2pts) you still jump high but you quickly come to a steady downfall which prevents you from going further. when it is set to 1pt then you come to a long distence jump and a rough fall but you do not get damaged at all. the reason i didn't put jump so high is because when you are traveling and you come to your destination you sometimes fly right past it. i tried to put jump at 100pts and just add a point or two to slowfall but i find my self jumping really high and comeing to a very boring slowfall, without going very far at all. 50pts jump was perfect.

Levitate is quite good fun, the only problem is that sometimes if you go to high the enemy will run away trying to find a way to get to you and that can get pretty annoying. It doesn't work too well in cramped spaces either but in general its effective cos you can stay low but when they get too close just go out of reach. The main time it doesn't work is with things like Golden Saints when they reflect your spells - it can be pretty hit and miss with them but works well with non-mystical creatures.
