sigh...another Jaheira romance question

Okay. The romance seems to have stopped. I have exited the Underdark and I have gone all the way up to where I help her fight off Dermin but the romance talk stopped long before that. I don't have but a few quests left before I go after Bodhi for the second time and I'm worried that the game is going too fast for it to unravel. The merchant in the docks don't even offer me that crappy locket like he is supposed to. What is the malfunction here?

LOL.......Frustrating one isn't she! There is an entry in her NPC section of the BG2 page which suggests going somewhere outdoors and letting the game sit for a few hours until a dialogue initiates. Im not certain, but I think purchasing the locket is a fairly integral part of the romance early on (like when you first enter the docks district and speak to the merchant) I agree that her romance is either extremely challenging or there is a glitch in it somewhere. From what Ive read, most of us seem to start having problems during or upon exiting the underdark but unfortunately I cant figure out much more.

I have whipped Bodhi for the second (and last) time and I am now in the Elf City whuppin up on some golems. I don't have much time left and the merchant in the docks don't offer me the stupid locket. I have went to one of the woodland areas and camped and camped and camped and camped now I'm all out of Coleman lantern fluid and must move on:laugh: . I am starting to believe that I went thru the game too fast and didn't let events unfold. Oh well, theres always the next play through.

comiserations my fellow adventurer. I too am in the same situation as yourself, having played through most of the game only to find I blew it with my girlfriend.I also tried the "camp out" theory, it didnt work for me either. However, I am ever determined to get to the bottom of this Jahiera romance mystery, so a few questions to you before we resign ourselves to try again in our next game.
1) did you sleep with Pheare in the underdark so as not to blow your parties cover? I did. In the dialogue that followed she didnt seem OVER upset about it. Keldorn backed me up, explaining I did it for the good of the party, but her dialogues seemed to dwindle after that.
2) Has she ever been given her Harper Pin? Which ,I am told, is totally unrelated to the romance.
I personally am starting to wonder whether the whole thing is relative to Allignment. Ive travelled through Faerun, a Bhaalspawn, doing purely good deeds at every turn, with a totally good party, thinking that would impress her.For the most of it, all she constantly said was "I hope this is not a sign of things to come.....We must strive to maintain balance" When we walked in to finish off Kangaxx, once again, she came out with her classic line

I nearly threw my sword on the ground right there and then and said " Listen lady, what is your problem? No...wait....your right! Lets just revive this Lich and let it loose on the streets of the city. No..better still, we'll kill it..give its stuff to an evil mage, pick up a crazed assasin on the way and generally go around biting the heads off children and murdering innocent peasants. THEN would you be happy? Would THAT maintain your goddam balance?" Fortunately I have remained patient with her and so the adventure continues.

dude, I haven't even got a single dialogue from her since I got out of the Underdark except for when I followed her to the Harper Hold and she called me a magnificent bastard and was happy with me. Nothing but silence since. I didn't sleep with Phaere (blew it b4 I got that far and had to murder the whole town, even Solaufein turned on me something about a Djinni I killed out of compassion). I did sleep with some chick in the tavern, though...surprised me but I couldn'r turn down a hot Drow Dominatrix...

I had loads of problems with Jaheira's quest, as do many others judging by the amount of stuff about it on the net. IIRC, if you don't buy the locket then you are stuck and the romance will not progress.

You will probably have to poke around using the CLUAConsole to find out what stage your romance is at then figure out what variables you need to reset to get it back online again.
