Traffik Stealth Approach

Post by skylion »

Ok this is the second time I am playing this game and the first time I tried playing, I took the all guns blazing approach. But this time I want to net the extra 2 experience pts by using the stealth mode. But I am having problems using the overhead ventilation shafts. I get by the first one easily but when I make an attempt to use the second one......I just cant get. I keep falling down. I am playing malkavian and i know obfuscate wud help my cause but it wud require a lot of blood pts so any suggesstions? Also i heard that playing malkavian gives u funny conversation features which I get but I dont hear any voices......dont get it.

sneaking

remember to open the vents before trying to jump into them?

I didn't know that there were any extra XP on offer for sneaking - and as I think you need to kill to complete the mission, I don't understand. I did once get the case having sneaked and obfuscated my way through, but then had to fight to keep the case, I recall.

obfuscate is good - there are lots of walking blood-packs around for refills...

Nope if u kill and retrieve the briefcase u get 1 EXP pt. However if u use obfuscate and retrieve the briefcase u get 3 EXP pt but they will notice u and start to attack u. Well I opened the vents but the angle at which they are it makes it quite difficult to get in. I got frustrated and just used the obfuscate. Once they started to attack me I just ran and made it through without engaging in combat. Waste of time and u dont get ne EXP for wasting them all.

I got down there pretty easily through the vents (after checking this topic), then I stumbled back up with Obfuscate... I only had to use one bloodpack, and that was just because I'm paranoid. if you're filled, I guess you just need to pick the shortest way out. if you can obfuscate, that is. otherwise... it might be tricky.

and yes, you get a 2XP bonus if no-one gets killed (or sees you, I guess...) but that has already been mentioned.

You should do so well as to be sucked into the engine of some evil Sith Lord, you know.

There's a couple of guards standing by themselves here and there. You can feed on them as long as you're quick and don't let them raise an alarm and still get the stealth bonus. Or save them for lunch on the way back up.

I discovered that if you kind of walk against the hanging vent covers your character seems to use it as a sort of ladder and you climb right in.

I found angling into the vents and the nearest wall worked well, and I climbed them like ladders.

You get the add'l XP if you don't kill anyone I think, not if you are not seen. Not totally sure, but I think so.

I did it as Tremere with lowish Sneak. As with other "no kill" missions, I just Trance'd anyone who saw me and ran away.

I didn't kill anyone on the way down, then on the way up I killed everything between me and the door.

I first did it with my Ventrue and used dominate a LOT, but i just did it now with a Malkavian and i have to say it was the EASIEST mission i have ever done!

To start i have level 4 Obfuscate, which helps a LOT, and my unarmed is around 3 or 4 (although i dont think this has an effect if u feed on someone who cannot see you). All i did was walk down there, near the bottom feed off one solitary guy, walk up to the briefcase, crouch, grab it, wait to go invisible again (no-one saw me as i was crouched), then run back up, using obfuscate about 4 times and returning to the surface with about half blood, and extra experience for the stealth approach!

Also, yes you use vents like ladders, caught me out first time around as well!

It's not don't kill to get the extra 2 xp it's to be noticed, so onone can see you to get the 2 xp.
You can kill or drain on the way out if you wish, Wesp has recently with the 2.8 Unofficial patch made every goon drop there correct weapon, which means you can pick a free Mac 10 and about 150 ammo for it.
I use Obfuscate, so I can't help you with the vents, though my Obfuscate is set more like the P & P game so it doesn't run out every 30 seconds.
They don't notice you take the breifcase you must have done something or walk into the light, but picking up the case has no auto effect of making you visable.
Trust me, most of the names I have been called you can't translate in any language...they're not even real words as much as a succession of violent images.

Picking up the case when you are running Obfuscate 4 makes you visible temporarily as it classes as 'interacting with the environment'.

I would have to say getting my Obfuscate to 5 is almost the top piority with the possible exception of the ranged death discipline, Vision of Death a 3rd level Demtation.

Already have that, and level 4 Auspex, and a pretty good ranged feat (7 or 8), along with persuasion of 6!

BTW, did anyone here ever notice an actual briefcase exchange in that quest going on? It seems to be scripted inside the map but I never see it, using stealth or brute force doesn't matter...

Second time i did it, with a stealth approach, when i got to the bottom level, because they werent all trying to kill me, there were 2 groups of guys standing behind cars, facing each other. One group had cases. Never saw an exchange tho.

That's what I meant. I managed to get the exchange going yesterday evening and will try to fix it in 2.9. Someone really messed that level up :( ...

traffik quest brings back so many painfull memories

Yeah...in order to get the bonus you have to take the stealthy approach and not be seen. The only way you know that you have used a succesful stealth approach, is when the last two levels aren't riled up. If they suspect an intruder, their security will get really, really tight to the point where you will be awaited to a bashing as soon as you drop from the last vent of the last level.

Reminecing about this quest, I come to the conclussion that......it was the most difficult quest for me. You have to have at least a lv.7 stealth (and have good timing) or above. I was able to go undercover with stealth lv.9 and even snag the car stereo on my way out. That's a real cash bonus too, all you have to do is sell it.

I can't believe that. Did you use the ladders and vents? Those make it much easier...

I second that emotion. The first time I didn't know about the vents at all, and I tried go in the front door. Nope. All but impossible, even if you fight back. I suppose if you had Level 9 or 10 stealth, it might be doable, but getting that high that early in the game is a bit tricky. Of course, if you have obfuscate, it becomes a walk in the park, as long as you have enough blood points. Hmm. I built a Tremere once and traded out Auspex for Obfuscate. Never thought to try the Garage through the front door. Darn.
