By this I don't mean, "Mephistopheles is too hard for me". I mean, I go throught the planar door, have my converstation with Durnan (the first time through, it just got stuck in a loop of watching the fight), then he shows up, and I am still in cinematic mode. I can't interact or anything. I am not taking damage, just standing there while he hacks at me. What gives?
Does anyone have any idea? I have tried it since several times and the loop still plays, my character is standing there in cinematic mode doing nothing while Mephi and the elementals wail on her to no avail.
I'm sorry, but I have absolutly no idea what could help you.
Not outside the standard - patch the game, If you have an ealier save game try that and see if it happens when you get to it again and similar....
The same thing happened to me once and the only thing that fixed it was to completely reinstall the game and go back to a save quite a bit before the Mephi-whats-his-name battle. I don't know what causes the glitch but I have heard people mention that it happens sometimes after you have completed HOTU once already (it happened on my second time through). It may also be fixed by one of the later patches - I haven't played HOTU since before most of the more recent patches were released.
I actually don't have any earlier saves. I do have the latest patch. At this point I am considering saving my character and restarting the entire module, which wouldn't be all that bad I suppose, now that I know what to do.
You could just restart Chapter 3 of HOTU rather than the entire module. I would suggest reinstalling first though as when it happened to me it kept doing the same thing every time until after I had reinstalled.
If I restart in Ch. 3, would I still be able to get the same henchmen? After all, there's no beating Deekin, and I like the drow. I might just go back to do the sidequests I missed in the first 2 chapters anyways.
