OK, New Bug with T-3 on Peragus...

Post by Buckeye70 »

I quit the previous game with the "NPC's won't follow me bug" and restarted, so now I"m going thru "Peragus-Hell" again...

Anyway, T-3 is stuck. I'm in the fuel depot, and he won't move forward or backwards. Sometimes when I press "W" to go forward, he spins...Sometimes nothing. I saved several games previous, and now he won't move on those...

Any help would be appreciated...

Have you had any keyboard problems etc. with any other game, just in case its a problem with your keyboard?

Have you tried reinstalling the game?

Have you tried patching the game?

I had similar problems. Do you have an ATI card? My solution:

Pan the camera around so it is facing T3 from the front.
Use the backward movement key to move T3 forward.

I tried patching myself and nothing worked to fix this issue. I also attempted to update my video driver as a possible solution, but this had no effect either.

This only happens in certain areas. Using this method I was able to successfully navigate through those buggy spots (not too many of them, just a few). Having your game set on pause when an enemy is sighted will help you avoid being blasted needlessly when doing this operation. Note that while you're doing this, you can pause to swing the camera around look at what you're missing...however, remember, in order to move forward, turn the camera around again and use the backward movement key.

Yea, this sounds like either a connection problem with the keyboard or a problem with the actual keys. :(
Here is a wise saying from Luke Skywalker, "NNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOO!!!!" And that was a word from Luke. Have a nice day! :)

Yes,I'd say it was a definate keyboard connection problem.I've had the same thing happen myself with a different game and while using a joystick. What type of computer are you running it on?

It's an example of the well klnow 'Danooine drag' phenomenon. This happens throughout the game with certain graphics cards e.g. NVidia GForce ones (it often happened to me). However, the first time in a game of KOTOR 2 that I actually experience it is always just after I gain control of T3.

It is possible to move. Do as follows:

1) Quit KOTOR 2.
2) Restart Kotor2 and load the last saved game as T3. DON'T try to move!!!!
3) Turn on the spot, without touching the forward or back keys. (A or D if you are using the default keyboard layout). YOu will find that you turn with a faster frameratein some directions than other. Turn so you are facing this direction.
4) Now stay facing that way as you move. Use strafe rather than turn to go left and right (you may want to turn off the option where you turn to face an enemy whenecer one is sighted)
5) If you find the framerate slowing repeat the turning experiment, and choose anew direction-with-fastest-framerate to face.

ON the other hand after a year of trying to solve this I have found a fix which works for me, and means the game runs normally, everywhere!

I turned the screen resolution to maximum, the refresh rate up, turned on shadows and grass...and hey presto, the framerate problems are over, the game runs full speed. (no this is NOt a troll. It really worked)
