Of course there are people around who reduce others to merely sex objects, but is it any better to be reduced to an income provider or a status measurement? I think men and women at group level reduce each other equally much, the channels/expression just differ depending on gender roles in the specific time and culture
I remember a girl I used to know who turned down a lovely (but not very attractive) man because she didn't want 'ugly' kids. Such arrogance! and such presumption!

I think thats a horrible reason not to go out with someone. If Im asked, I always go on at least one date, to see how they are. Than, I think about if I want a relationship or not.

Some things are better left to the mysteries of time. ;)
Cartoon Law III
Any body passing through solid matter will leave a perforation conforming to its perimeter. Also called the silhouette of passage, this phenomenon is the speciality of victims of directed-pressure explosions and of reckless cowards who are so eager to escape that they exit directly through the wall of a house, leaving a cookie-cutout-perfect hole. The threat of skunks or matrimony often catalyzes this reaction.

I view every person including myself, as having physical attributes as well as emotional, intellectual and personality attritbutes. To a person who does not know me and has never spoken to me, I am of course merely my looks, since he knows nothing else. So I don't find it more degrading to be seen as merely a sexual, physical woman-shaped piece of tissue, than to be seen as an abstract, intellectual production unit only. I want all people I learn to know to consider all the different modalities in me, that a human being consists of :)

I look at men, maybe not the "elevator-style" ;) gaze Garcia describes, but I certainly look at their face, body, posture, coordination, movement style etc. My lady friends describe similar behaviour patterns, you automathically evalute a man's attractiveness both sexually/physically and personality-wise.

hmmm.....that is actually very nicely put C Elegans very nice indeed. This was what I meant (only you wrote it in a bit better) But if we really think about it almost all does it, look at physical attributes. Most just don't want to admit it because it doesn't sound that nice to say you do so. Also it varies how people take it some really want to be looked at like that, and take it for the compliment that it is that someone is giving "the elevator". others take it as an insult to womanhood and I wont mention any names...Vivien :D :) (ohh she is gonna be so pissed :D )
if people take the time to look at you that must mean something, they wont look unless they saw something in the corner of their eye worth giving a real good look.
I also understand Vivien there are different ways of looking there is also that "I-got-to-get-me-some-of-that-look" and then go like "hey baby nice *Bip* how would you like to see...." that is totally disrespectful and degrading, that I can understand but a little look never harmed no one.

*Garcia is looking at C elegans and Vivien without knowing and going hmmm* ;) :p :)
