Non-Detection (the spell, the cloak)
Non-Detection (the spell, the cloak)
Does this really do anything in BG2? My gut feeling is that it has no practical effect, as enemies do not seem to use Detect Invisible, only True Sight. The list of other effects in the spell description (clairvoyance, clairaudience etc) form no part of the game surely.

with hide in shadows, and ONLY with hide in shadows it makes you immune to true seeing.Earnest wrote:Does this really do anything in BG2? for mages, however, spell immunity divination works much much better.

Hide in Shadows definitely works. Funny thing is, the mages will cast all their detection spells because they will know you are around, but this will be fruitless for them. If you wait for them to wear off, the entire party can then enter with the invisibility spell and be jsut as undetectable - because the enemy has no spells to do so anymore!

Well,
This helps explain a couple of things I had wondered about. Everytime I have gone into the Adventurer's Mart with one of my characters still invisible (possibly in shadows too), Ribald almost immediately casts True Seeing. Very annoying when I had just planned to quickly pick up something on my way to another part of town. So I gather that he has some means of "detection", item or spell effect running at all times. So if I have "Non-Detection" cast on someone, he won't know they are there and not cast True Seeing?

used by a thief mage, you are still vulnerable to true seeing.
enemy mages cast true seeing by script when the script detects an invisible character within line of sight...the ONLY protection is...
hide in shadows WITH THE CLOAK ONLY
improved or standard invisible spell (or item) with spell immunity divination...
and mislead, with the visible clone out of range of line of sight...
(almost forgot about this one...if you cast mislead, and the visible image is out of range of the mage casting true sight, you cannot be detected...):mischief:
