Terrible Tech issue

Post by darkaster »

Well, i had unistalled this game long ago (or so I thought), and got the urge to play this game again, seeing as it's great fun. However, I put the disc in, and it does its autorun thing, and it tells me to Install, Play (greyed out), etc. like normal.

However, when i click install, it tries to uninstall the game! I clicked okay, thinking i could install it afterwards, but my installation gets interuppted, "My system has not been changed", and i can't reinstall this game.

I've tried everything I know how...

Anyone?

Hi, darkaster. Welcome to the forums. :)

Have you tried to totally remove the game from your registry? That would really help. If you're not familiar on how to do so, I can refer you to this post here. You won't run into any installation problems after doing so and it has worked when I tried it. Hope you find this useful. :)

Well, at first when the autorun initialized it said uninstall, but i had nothing to uninstall! It was in the program files, but the unistall wizard wouldn't run correctly.

I then deleted it in the registry, and so the autorun reads "install" now, but it still tries to uninstall instead of install...

::Edit:: It still shows up in add/remove programs.

Oh, and thanks for the welcome :)

This is strange. Just click uninstall on Fable at the add/remove programs to see if it really removes the game. Also remove Fable's folder from the Program Files. I hope this works. If it doesn't then that's a really strange problem I've ever seen.

The problem is when i use the add/remove programs, i get the same issue as the autorun... It just says The uninstallation could not be completed, your system has not been altered, etc.

I have already deleted the program files folder, no dice...

Hmm. Can you try this on another computer to see if it manages to install properly or not? Because I suspect that it could be the disc itself, though I could be wrong.

I'm pretty sure its not the disc, seeing as its the uninstaller... I cant get it all the way off my system.

Can't test it anywhere else, only other comp in here is my roommates, and I'm sure he doesn't want the same issue as I have...

The Error massage will tell u there is no uninstal point found becouse u deleted it from the program files, Still the game is registrated.. else it would not show up in add and remove programs, A game has multyple registerys, On on programs the other on data storage keeping... ( The Program that is warning u about not using it and having insuficiant Hard disk space )
Try a search on ur computer for FABLE.. and FLC.. the final registrary should pop up and delete it,
Problem solved
Never failed on me
U could also try to go to add/remove programs and push fix instead of delete

I went through the registry searching (using the search tool) finding anything Fable related, and deleted it. There must be something I can't find, and its going to be hard seeing as its microsoft, it would be anywhere...

I guess no dice on this end.
