UPdate aborts patch but looks ok? (NWN, 1.68)

Post by Pat_1_1_1 »

Hey I had a strange experience installing that Diamond version of NWN. I installed everything including kingmaker. Then right away I started NWN and did UPDATE.

Now UPDATE worked for actually quite a while and said patch aborted because wrong verison of file. So I rebooted my PC and started NWN and tried UPDATE again.

UPDATE pretty quick said: You have version 1.68 . And did not update anything.

So am I hosed? NWN plays okay in Prelude, that's as far as I've got so far.

Advice will be appreciated.

I have the Diamond Edition and just updated, but I didn't have the same problem. However, I did have the same problem when updating from 1.66 to 1.67. You can work around this by going to the official NWN site here:

Neverwinter Nights: Patches and Updates

to download the patch you need. In your case, it's the first one:

( NWN: Hordes of the Underdark
(English) (also for Platinum/ Diamond editions) >> Choose your Platform

I don't know WHY the Diamond Edition does that, but it's my humble opinion that it's a bit.. buggier than the 'older' versions of NWN. I've had them all, starting with the OC, and the only one that ever gave me real problems was the Diamond Edition.

After patching, do I restart my game?

I'm playing prelude. After I install that patch to fi whatever files weren't upgraded, do you advise I start my game over??? I'm actually worried things might go wrong later.

It never gave ME any problems, but if you're worried about it and you're not that far into the game, it's up to you. Updating shouldn't, generally speaking, do anything to your game save files or character files, though.
